It is Windows Vista, just with all those annoying security features actually less annoying and still working.

There are quite a few cosmetic changes though, like the taskbar now works similar to the OSX dock (You can have shortcuts on there and they'll just have a different box when they're running). I hate that taskbar but it's the only thing wrong with the OS. There is an option for a classic taskbar anyways, it just crashes my beta right now.

See, that right there is just right clicking on a button in the taskbar, it could be running or not but you get a full task menu.

Oh, and it's fast. Faster than XP fast. Check this table from ZDNet (Each OS is ranked so the lower number the better). These are 32-bit OS version tests taken from Beta 1.

It also has Aero Snap, which I can't get working, but it's a gesture based system with the mouse. To maximise a window, drag it with both mouse buttons up, to the side to tile it or down to minimize. I doubt I would use it much anyways mind you.

EDIT: Just seen your post in the OS thread. This is a case of "what works in Vista works in Windows 7". It's true, even in this early stage, everything works, but things that only worked on XP still only work on XP.

I was tempted to download this, but I hate the hassle of setting up an OS, so I'm just going to wait till the finished product is released (and in 64-bit form)

There is no hassle. Trust me, there was only one prompt this time and it had drivers for everything. It was insane.

Wait for the public beta, should be out in a couple of months (and 64-bit)
