Kevin Pietersen has resigned as England captain in the wake of his rift with Peter Moores, BBC Sport understands.
Andrew Strauss is expected to be named as Pietersen's interim successor at an England and Wales Cricket Board press conference at The Oval at 1800 BST.

Yes they have hit a rough patch, but they are still technically the best team in the world and we need to be at full strength to have any shot of taking back the Ashes
