It's going to be the Champion Matt Hardy against Jack Swagger one on one with the title on the line! and it's going to be TAPED!.

I am not a huge ECW fan but I am looking forward to this one.

I could see Swagger winning the IC or US, but the ECW is a little above those. He probably isn't winning it. Hadty could lose it too Finlay, and Finlay can lose it to Swagger, I don't mind that, I just don't see someone like Swagger beating a Hardy.

I don't think there's any way in hell that Swagger will actually win, but I really really really really really REALLY hope that he does. Some may say it's too soon to give Swagger a title, but the ECW championship means about dick all anyway, and I'd rather see more of Swagger than Hardy when I watch ECW. Should be a decent match either way.

I think Hardy will retain the belt in some way, but I hope the rivalry continues. Swagger could be the champ by Wrestlemania if he continues to improve. His ring work is good and is a complete asshole on the mic.

Matt Hardy is fine as ECW Champion right now, and can keep getting the belt over. I'd only agree with a title change if they had plans for both Swagger and Hardy. Putting the belt on a rookie is a pretty big fucking risk, though, considering he's the closest thing they have to a new Brock Lesnar or Bobby Lashley, and they've been afraid talent is going to do another "Brock Lesnar" or "Bobby Lashley."

You act as though it's a risk. Putting the WWE title on someone at Wrestlemania may be a risk, but not this.

It's whatever really. It's because they probably have bigger fish to fry with Matt Hardy involving Jeff, Edge and Christian on Smackdown (with Wrestlemania coming up). It's little more than something that was keeping Matt busy, until something more important came up.

What's hilarious is that it's world title status. Regardless of peoples arguments over credibility, it is. Piper never held a world title, and now this dude (who I hadn't heard of until today) is champion.

Yeah, that's what bothering me, I think. I barely even know who this jackass is, but he's ECW champion.

I mean, I know it's a brand world title, but they're doing a damn fine job of making it look midcard level.

For sure. I always "stick up" for the title in the arguments over it. What I'm contending though is that regardless of what anyone thinks it is a real world title because that's what it's status is. But the bottom line is that it's treated like shit and with each passing move means less.

It really only lived up to it's name with RVD and Big Show, and Matt Hardy has done a fine job of making it look more valuable than it is to creative.
I suppose it had good exposure with Lashley for a bit there, if only because it was involved in that Trump thing which was "main event"

They should just do ECW before Raw on USA, live, from 8-9. Then they could have the pyro at the end of the hour and start Raw, where they moved on to the "important stuff".

It'd be exactly like Nitro. The first hour of Nitro and the guys on it were to WCW as ECW is to WWE nowadays anyways.

Pretty soon WWE will give everyone a title and it will actually be more prestigious to be the one guy who doesn't have a championship belt. That way they can sell the most possible replicas, but the belts will be more like The Scarlet Letter than an accolade.

I'm not even sure why they wrestle anymore. They should just have Cena and Rey stand in the ring for two hours and tell you to call this number and buy our stuff. Occasionally they would fight off Mike Knox or Kane.

I really, really like Swagger, but I think it is way too early to put the belt on him. The ECW Title just hasn't been booked consistently strong enough for it to elevate a new guy rather than be brought down to said new guy's level when he wins it.

That being said, yes, the guy is going to be big. If he doesn't go to MMA, that is.

I think this title win means that Jack Swagger has been the quickest guy to win a World Title into his WWE career. He's done it in a bit over four months. I think Brock Lesnar did it in about five? He is just a bit older than Lesnar was when he won his first World Title.

Also, despite being billed as undefeated, Jack Swagger has lost a tag team match to Tommy Dreamer & Finlay.

I can think of plenty ideas.

I have not problem with Swagger, haven't seen enough to make a call. But I do think him winning the ECW title serverly tarnishes it small amount of preseige. I think Vince was a better choice, cause at least people know who Vince is, and it was a decent story line.

I now believe TNA Title > ECW Title.

It was a pretty good match. The irony of them basically reusing the finish from Razor Ramon/Diesel for the IC title for the ECW title.

Matt starts his matches of good, but then near the end he gets into autopilot mode, where he just goes for his spots and that's that. Maybe a reversal here or there and then the finish. I'm not saying it's Matt's fault, I think they've booked him to be too reliant on moves like the Side Effect or going to the second rope and yelling "AGHHHHHHH!!!!" That pretty much goes for everybody actually. I think it's just especially noticeable with Matt because he has to try like three times before completing the Side Effect, always.

Seriously though, I consider ECW a glorified, televised feeder league for WWE. The title is pretty meaningless other than to provide a focal point for the main event of the show.

I know his name. But lets look at a list of recent ECW champions:

John Morrison - who was on both Raw and Smackdown before winning the title
CM Punk - who made it on a few PPV before winning the title
Chavo - who has been in WCW and WWE(F) before winning the title
Kane - a former WWE(F) champion before winning
Mark Henry - who has been in plenty of WWE mainevents
Matt Hardy - one of the most popular wrestlers around
Jack Swagger - never been seen off of ECW tv.

I can see them getting double usage out of this title change. As someone else said, it frees Matt up for a program with Jeff vs. E&C, PLUS now Tommy Dreamer has a heel to go after during his self-imposed "Win the title or retire" angle.
