Monty Python search for the Holy Grail
Call it comedy but I was like "Umm what" when I saw they were all just arrested at the end of the movie

Ghostbusters 2. Loved it, but the painting of the cast at the end was stupid, didn't make any sense whatsoever and not at all funny.
The Departed.
All the good characters fucking die.

Infernal Affairs does it much better...

I don't think you have to worry about spoilers in a thread about movie endings. For examples, I liked the ending to the Departed where all the good characters fucking died.

Yea, kind of seems like a statement a 5 year old would make. "All the good guys die, that's no fair"

I think he meant "good characters", as in "I enjoyed his character", not "Hes one of the good guys!"
I liked the ending to the Departed.

Well, the movie ends shortly after anyways, so how is ones enjoyment of the character lessened? They're fictional.
That's one thing I will never understand.

The reason I hate the way the Departed ended is because I love how Infernal Affairs end. Long story short, Infernal Affairs plays off the the various levels of hells, and neverending punishment, and basically, one of the characters is constantly trapped in situations he doesn't want to be in, and even in the end, ends up surviving so his suffering continues...
In the Departed, they just kill him...
Basically, the Departed is Infernal Affairs minus a deeper theme running through it.

Hold up, do you mean "subpar" in the title?
I've been confused for days, I thought you were using some new term and I'm just not "down with the kids" these days.
I think its subpar yeah must have been inspired by Fignuts thread which also used subar unless its some American thing I've never heard of.

I've seen it, but you might want to throw a spoiler tag on that bitch.
Andddd, I thought the ending was far better than the obvious action-jackson ending

I just wanted to prove him wrong, maybe even hoping he hasn't seen it yet. :D

That's true, but it's a movie that was released a week ago. Grace period.

Once upon a time in Rio was going good until at the end of the movie, for no reason, De decides to hold a gun to his girlfriends head prompting him to get shot by the police.

Not to say that Jurassic Park 3 was a good movie, but it had maybe the worst ending I've ever seen.

Transforsmers 3 Dark of the Moon had a pretty sudden ending after the big fight and didn't really wrap up the triology all that well but I still liked it enough.

High Tension.
There's a twist at the end that M. Night Shayamalan (sp?) can't even make sense of.

I'd guess because not everybody has seen every single film that has ever been made ever :-\
Really wanted Drago to beat the shit out of Rocky tbh.

Or just to be mildly considerate. But fuck that, being a dick is awesome!
...Aaaanyway.
You come in here not knowing which movies are going to be mentioned. It's just courteous not to spoil shit. Though really old movies probably don't need protection.

The Dark Knight Rises also ended very poorly. Very disappointed with the Bane fight scene.

I Am Legend. And by ending, I mean the entire 3rd act. Defeated the purpose of the title. And killed the tone and momentum of the movie.
I thought when he realized the Vampire zombies set him up with the same trap he used earlier, the film was going to go in the direction that they were now the dominant race, and that Will Smith was the last of his kind, and would accept evolution's choice and his role as what would end up being a folk story or legend to the future of this new race.
Nope. Instead we get a kid and Latina randomly showing up at just the right moment, getting shoe horned into what had been a great movie to that point, and ruining the ending because God forbid the human race lose in a movie here or there.

True. Also, why couldn't he escape with the girl and the kid and just throw the grenade down the coal chute? That self-sacrifice was godamn stupid.

Certainly was. The alternate ending was a tick better. But it still ruined what was a stellar solo act from Smith the first two thirds. As soon as they used divine intervention to force feed the survivors in I checked out. Movie was judged from then on out.

I kinda agree with this. Bane went down with little circumstance. The build do it was great. And everything that followed his death was amazing. But I do think he could've had a better death considering how well they built him up to that point.

The only bad thing in TDKR is Marion Cotillard.
Just awful.

Agreed. The love angle doesn't work. Especially when the chemistry with Selena is so much better. But damn it, I still love the shit outta that movie.

Yeah it's my favourite. I recognise that the first is likely the best film, the second has the best performances but the third is just everything teenage me wants to see forever.

I think the Dark Knight is prob the best comic book inspired movie of all time. It's about as perfect a film, Batman or otherwise, that I think I could ever see. For me it's the clear best.
Begins is amazing but the 3rd act falls into typical comic book movie mode and the fight scenes are shot dreadfully.
Rises has a special place as my fave. I love Bane. I move Selena and I was emotionally invested in that final chase scene. Plus Michael Cain ramps up the emotional beats and he's glorious when on screen. Not the perfect movie but a perfect ending to that series. Good luck Matt Reeves.

Yeah the Michael Caine speech had me in floods of tears the first time...
I watched TDKR twice in a row and again the next day. I have never done that with a film before. I can do Bane's speech when he first fights Batman word for word and I counted every blow in both confrontations to ensure Batman did not get short shrift. It took me an hour and I think the final fight was 47 strikes each.
It affected me.
