View Full Version : Could you see a "Shad" win the Rumble?

I was wondering this while watching some old Royal Rumble movies, and with some of the past tag team members who have done well in a Rumble could you see a person like Shad or Eziekiel Jackson win the rumble? I always liked to think that bigger, beefier tag team partners like Shad or Festus (maybe they could play down the bell gimmick) could have a shot, just because of the physical size and strengh could have a chance and have him win the Rumble?

No.

No... But I do see Shad being a decent mid carder down the line... Probably after a heel turn for Cryme Tyme.

No. I'd love for a surprise winner, but not someone like Chad. I agree with WWKD.

So just out of curiousity, who do you see Dorky ;) as the "most suprise winner" of the Royal Rumble?

Well this is WWE so we won't get "the most surprise winner", but if I look at the roster the only ones I could buy are:

Kane - he never gets to win anything
Regal
Cody or Dibiase - screwing Orton at the end
Shelton Benjamin
Hurricane
Kendrick
Kozlov
Kennedy - we know he's returning soon. I don't think i'd like the same type of Rumble victory two years in a row)

As fpr most surprise winner I'll go with DJ Gabriel. Most WWE fans probably haven't even heard of him.

Why would the WWE let a nigger win the rumble? It ain't happenin' bub. Aside from the fact that he's a nig, the dude just ain't over enough as a singles guy.

You have to remember that a Royal Rumble victory means a title shot at WrestleMania (unless your John Cena). What're they going to do with Shad? Shad vs. Cena for the World Title? Shad vs. Edge? That makes no sense.

Yes it does make sense. The whole of the Royal Rumble is that if you win it, no matter who you are, you get a shot at Wrestlemania. Though WWE doesn't have the balls to have someone like that win it, I think they should begin to have some Royal Rumbles (and some matches in general) where unsuspected people win.

Without playing up all of the overused puns and whatnot, No Shad won't come close to winning. The best he could hope for is an impressive showing. He has been getting the pinfalls in all of Cryme Tyme wins, so maybe building him up through the rumble by taking out Miz, Morrison, and Jess and Fess. Have him run through a couple of folks and continue building off of that momentum to really get this team over. But that would mean the WWE is paying attention to the tag division, so nevermind.

I really want a heel champ to enter the Rumble, win, and then gloat about how he won't need to defend his title at Wrestlemania.

I agree with this. Shad has some talent, much more than JTG for sure.

I would like a surprise winner to win it one day.

A RR darkhorse maybe, but I just can't see a winner coming outta NOWHERE. Has anyone had their debut at the rumble and proceed to win it? That would be the closest we could get to a surprise.

I can see someone making their return to win the Rumble (like Cena did, or a Kurt Angle or Rob Van Dam), but they would have to be a former main eventer/world champion. You can't have someone like Shad, who has never even cracked the mid-card, come in and win the Rumble. He would have to be incredibly over like RVD circa 2001, Jeff Hardy back in 06, or even Jericho in 2000 - and they were all known faces at that point in time.

You have to have a big plan heading into WrestleMania. You can't bank on "a Shad" and hope above hope that he will get over enough by Mania to headline the biggest show of the year. It'd be like having Shelton Benjamin win it and hoping he could get over enough to face John Cena for the World Title in 2 months and actually get a decent buyrate.

Yea, like Fox said. I'd like to see them pull a suprise, but not that extreme. Someone winning early on in their popularity, or an uppermidcard guy who wasn't really hyped to win would be nice. There's not really anybody on the card I could think of right now, but the examples Fox gave of RVD, Hardy and Jericho at those time periods are good examples.
Maybe CM Punk last year. How about Kane in 2001?

Like everyone expects HHH or Orton to win. At the most shocking Taker, Jericho or a returning Batista would win, or Christian or whatever.
But what if Matt Hardy won?

A guy of that popularity, but unhyped enough for it to seem shockingly premature. Nobody was shocked when Cena and Batista were the final two in 05, but what about 04?

They go an put the title on guys prematurely anyways, so why not go all out with it and send them to mania in a cinderella story? If you're going to put the belt on them later that year you might as well get them over big while you can.
Also, in an age of two world title matches it's not nearly the risk it would have been in the old days
