Yeah, I don't recall a ufc or pride game that outright sucked. They just weren't anything special. They werefun in little 15 minute spurts, but lacked the depth to be entertaining for any long period of time. This one los a lot better, tbh.

Some of the animation looked smooth as hell, but some of the takedowns and reversals seemed jerky.

Hardly lame, it's two guys from the reality show. At least it shows they'll try to keep up unlike the Smackdown series who takes forever to add guys. Those two were probably being programmed but they just don't think they'll have them 100% ready in time for the disc to go into production.

God, I didn't realize how many guys were in UFC atm. Havn't followed mma closely since Kazushi Sakuraba still matterd,and even then Ionly followed pride.

Was hoping to use this game to learn more about the fighters, but good god, there are so many, I dunno if thats gonna happen. I recognize all the pride guys, some of the bigger UFC names, and of course my boy Rashad Evans, but I know nothing about like 75% of these guys.

Maybe I'll just stick with the original plan of picking Mirco Cro cop, and decapitating people with kicks.

Also, they better have a create-a-fighter, and all of sakuraba's signature moves better be in it. He was mad fun to play as in the pride game.

Maybe not. Most GameStop pre-order codes are generic codes input in the game to unlock them from the disc. Hopefully this will be the same and then the code will just be on the internet :)

Is it possible to get the dreamcast one to run on a computer? or any way to emulate it (xbox, xbox360, ps3) that would be perfect cause I got the thing to use your ps3 or 360 controler on vista and xp...

I want someone to put linux on my ps3 to see if I can run some old games like WWF superstars on the ps3(which apparently works) it would nice if Dreamcast games worked, I belive it was a 128bit system..... I could be wrong...

It's good but there are a couple of problems.

It's one face button per-limb with holding the left bumper to do strong attacks and left trigger to do jab attacks. Clinchings done with the stick but I'm not worked out what to do with them when they're clinched.

Commentary is excellent, they talk about previous fights that happened in real life and go into detail like that.

The big problem is there appears to be a stamina bar, but playing as Chuck lidell, there was no point me going in for grapples at all because I could just repeatedly hit Shogun Rhua in the face. He went on the deck a few times before the KO but I dunno how to mount yet so I just kicked him in the face some more :)

It might seem a lot better when I know WTF I'm doing, but right now it plays a bit like Tekken, which is weird.

Just worked out how to counter, right analogue stick. Up for head shots, back for body shots and down for leg shots. If I find out how to mount, I'll know what the game's really like!

EDIT: and grapples. Just LB and the right stick forward, with quarter-circles to change position. Pushing in the right stick will go for a submission but there are special submissions done in a Street Fighter way. I'm not sure if the difficulty setting on the demo is low or not, but it's much easier to just knock them the fuck out instead of bothering with mounts right now.

I now can't get a submission to "stick". He was weak to shit because when he got out of it, one jab knocked him down.

I think overall, it plays a lot like an upgraded version of the Dreamcast one, just with 2 billion different mounts/defense combos, which is good

lol, had a fight where my striking was on until he countered once then was going to make me submit, time ran out for the round, 2nd round came out with a spinning back fist and he was out cold :D

The animation seems to change depending on how close you are too, so it came out more like a spinning back elbow.

Also just found a tutorial after that fight, could help :D

EDIT: And difficulty. Lets see if the striking game is almighty now

^^ I tried it out and nothing happened the Demo loaded just fine. It's a good game as well I played through the demo a few times and really enjoyed it, looking forward to the full game coming out now.

Any chance any of you guys could give me a list of a few UFC Shows to check out btw? Had an interest in it for a while but never looked into it, I downloaded the latest one and am yet to watch it but would like to see what shows you guys consider to be the best to check out.

Kinda confusing, but kinda fun. Feels like Fight Night in some respects. Have trouble with the grappling engine but striking is responsive. Me and my bro went a few matches (I had Ice Man, he had some guy he swore would tear me apart).

hings got slow on the ground game (cause we're confused as shit), but we traded some wild hits. I'll need more training with combat engine to see how crazy matches could get.

My little cousin was playing the demo the other day....he knocked out Shogun five seconds in the first round. He through like two punches and then one high kick that just laid him out.

My favorite thing to do in the demo so far is to be Shogun and try knocking Liddell out with the flying knee attack. I usually knock them down about five times and scoot back...but eventually I get it in the final seconds in the first round.

My little cousin, my roomate and I were up till like 4 in the morning the other night just playing the demo and taking turns against each other. I lost about 20 times in a row before finally winning as Liddell with a high kick.

Then yesterday I took on my roomate and beat him twice with a high kick and a submission.

I put the difficulty on expert and started to play it on that and I have lost every time and never made it past the first round. The match always ends with him pinning me to the ground and sitting on me and hammering away on my face. He always knocks me out and just keeps on hitting me. Its funny though because eventually everyone was hearing me yell at the screen "You Fucker stop hitting me im already out"

Really? I've lost once as Liddle on expert. As long as you get out of Shoguns mounts (either let him get a full mount and hadouken in the right stick with LB held, or wait for him to armbar and escape as long as you have enough stamina) you should destroy him.

Yeah, been having problems escaping Shogun's mount on the higher levels. Just reverted to trying to keep off the floor and knocking him out. At some point I will sit down and go through the tutorial properly

Yeah, if you get to half guard, he'll usually transition to side mount and will eventually arm bar. If I reverse a mount and go on top, I usually just stand. Almost been triangle choked so many times now.

So I played the tutorial and then went back to playing on Expert....

Still lose alot but I have finally gotten in a few wins. My favorite win was a superman punch to shogun taking him out.

Ive still yet to get one of those knock outs right out of the gate. Both my cousins have gotten a Knock out by running the minute the fight starts and either doing a flying knee with Shogun or a Superman Punch and Elbow with Liddell. Fastest Ive gotten a knock out is about 20 seconds but still trying...

With the KO thing, on the first 2 difficulty levels, there are too many and it gets kind of annoying. On the 2 higher levels though, nowhere near as many (at least that's how it seems. On the demo btw) Actually been frustrated a few times after having somebody 'rocked' and not being able to finish them, let alone flash KO'ing where as on the lower levels, as soon as they're rocked, fight is as good as over and flash KO's are pretty much a 1st round guarentee :-\

monday night i played the career mode which is really fun, you have to manage your training with autograph signing and apperences and rest beofre each fight..so it takes some strategy to max out your fighter. my record is bout 11-4.

last night just played online allllll night, my record is 14 and 12 i think. everyone picks anderson, brock and gsp obviously. i can usually dominate anderson with hendo,my g'n'p is nasty with him and i subbed brock 3 times with mir all in the first round. most of my losses came with trying out different fighters and lost 4 in a row at like 3am when i was done.

best fights were me rampage and him evens..brawled for 2 1/2 rounds till i ko'd him on the round...and me joe daddy and him ken-flo..i lost with sub with a minute to go in the 4th.

overall...very good online play. a lot of strategy and luck. out of about 28 matched maybe 5 were lagged. it would be nice if people would select different fighters.

The ground game is awsome once you get the hang of it. The tip I can give is to make very small movements with the right stick so that you can make good progress on the ground and use a lot of punches between movements.

Apparently they were having problems with fluidity of the game play when they tried to make fighters right or left side dominant - probably forced them to almost double the amount of programming necessary, so they made everyone righties. A minor issue considering how epic the game really is.

Haven't got the game yet, but I'm having the exact same problem with the demo. I'd also like some advice on this.

In training it says to tap one of the face buttons or rotate the right stick, and it works in training. But once it comes to a match it never works :rant:

remeber to play as it was real. dont even attempt subs with guys like rampage, hendo and chuck unless your oppenent is beat to hell, and even then your better off pounding them out. use guys with good bjj and high sub ratings and work the body to kill their stamina. im more of a ground n pound fighter but that should work.

Ignore what they say about defending and whatnot, for some reason it doesn't really matter. If you just go all out attack and whoop him you get more points that way.

I also did this with my guy... i racked up 7 wins in a row and then got a title shot against arlovski and took it. But heres the thing, the game is so realistic that if you hit arlovski in the face more than once he goes down. So I won the belt. Then I got real cocky and picked lesnar and he proceeded to take me down time and time again until he pounded me out.... 8 times in a row (i would restart the game)

If you spar well you get points you can use to boost your stats. If you accept the training camp invitations you can watch some moves being performed and then attempt some tasks (i.e. get 3 takedowns, or whatever), if you get enough tasks you boost your rating for that skill which automatically ups your stats and I think unlocks some more moves.

Fuck, I went on a win/loss/win/loss streak for a bit when I was trying to step my game up and face the big boys in Light Heavy... Houston Alexander KOd me pretty bad. Avenged that with ground and pound. Then I win against Jardine (gate's open!). Chuck Liddell KOs me really bad. Then Tito gets a lucky KO with a bitch ass jab. Then fucking Forrest "Superman's Fist" Griffin proceeds to KO me. But I kept at it, tightened up my kick game, ramped up my striking defence and blasted through Machida, Rampage and the champ, Rashad all via kick to the head. Since then I've avenged my losses to Chuck and Forrest. Tito's dropped down the rankings like a little bitch so I cant fight him again. :mad: Now I'm 9 wins strong and probably gonna give Rampage a third title shot.

Currently about 11-1 and the Lightheavyweight Champion in my Career mode. Getting a lot better with my groundgame and on Takedowns, in my last fight I managed to beat Wanderlei Silva fairly easily, which suprised me considering my first attempt at the Career mode he was impossible for me to beat.

Rampage was a hard fight too, actually restarted it about 15 times because I wanted to get the title there and then, in the end settled for a tactic of staying out of his clinch range and going for a mix of takedowns and kicks to the the head.

Toughest fight in the light heavy weight division has been Rashad Evans. He was number 2 contender for the title when I fought him, we went the distance and I won a majority decision 28-27, 28-27, 28-28. Was an awesome fight. I'm now the world champion at 18-0 after taking out Rampage for the title. I have also since ducked Rashad at every corner. (fuck you i want my achievement. :mad: )

Yeah Rashad Evans is tough, lost the championship to him in my first defence after I somehow destroyed Rampage Jackson in under a minute and a half. Floored him with a spinning back elbow and just wailed away untill the ref stopped it. Currently at 21-7-0, I think not sparing early in my career has hurt me, due to me not realising that it was the only way to raise stats. Am loving this game so much.

And after loving online initially, now it can fuck off. Was 7-0 until I got tagged with a head kick for a flash KO. Didn't really mind that too much, 2 more wins for 9-1 then had like 3 successive people quit on me, 2 after submitting them and one before the match had even started (I think 9-1, 8 submissions put him off since his record was 13-30, all KO wins) and now my last 2 fights have been pretty much identical to each other, take my time, picking shots, wait for an opening and unload, in the process of pounding them against the cage with a flurry of head and body punches, one after the other and bam, literally one head kick and I get flash KO'd. Only shot from my opponent that lands. Both fights. Joypad is lucky it's still in one fucking piece.

Yeah, fuck. How the hell am I supposed to rear naked choke people in round 3? That means that not only do I have to beat him down without KOing him all the way to the third, but I've gotta pass his guard (easy enough) and he has to try to roll over while I block him from getting guard again and then get the submission (highly unlikely).

You can always try to sprawl if they go for a takedown - if your defence is good enough you'll hold position and can transition to side -> RNC right there.
