Can't find the video, but in the 89 Rumble, Savage was eliminated by Hogan, and there was a post-match interview where he was basiscally saying "yeah, every man for himself, he got me, but I'm still the best." He included possibly the MOST classic Savage line ever:

"A man in my position cannot afford to look ridiculous!"

Should have adopted that as a creed, Randy. :rofl:

Incidentally, that was the only time a sitting WWF/WWE champion was eliminated from the Rumble. Hogan participated in the '90 rumble as champion, but won.

Other interesting facts:

Roddy Piper, Ted DiBiase, Mr. Perfect, Vince McMahon, Jerry Lawler, Tazz, JBL, and Jonathan Coachman have both commentated and participated in at least 1 Rumble. Lawler actually entered a Rumble he was commentating (97, I think.)

Jim Duggan, Ric Flair, Yokozuna, Lex Luger, Vince McMahon, Brock Lesnar, and some canadian guy who killed some people before being murdered by a possessed Bowflex all won the Rumble the first time they competed.

While Mick Foley once entered the Rumble as 3 different characters, Glen Jacobs has entered three different Rumbles as entirely different characters that are supposed to be different people: Isaac Yankem, Fake Diesel, and Kane. Barry Darsow also competed both as Smash and Repo Man, and Jamal/Umaga has similarly entered as different characters.

I could be wrong on this one, but I think that the only father and son pairs to have both been in a Rumble have been Carlos Colon and Carlito, and Dusty Rhodes and Goldust. Carlos Colon entered the '94 Rumble, for those who are asking.

While anyone who eliminates himself from the Royal Rumble is considered eliminated (Andre the Giant, Ahmed Johnson, Mil Masqueras, Mick Foley,) in 1992, Randy Savage leaped over the top rope to the floor in pursuit of Jake Roberts and subsequently rejoined the match. Bobby Heenan suggested that, having gone over under his own power, he was still in the match. This is obviously untrue: the real answer is, as has been before mentioned, Savage is a moron. Good cover by Heenan though.

Since the "Winner gets the main event at Mania" stipulation was enacted, several winners have not appeared in said main event. Due to a shady win, Austin instead faced Bret Hart in the famed submission match. Vince McMahon abdicated his right to main event, "inadvertently" allowing Austin to take the spot. While the Rock won in '00, Mick Foley and the Big Show would be added to the match. Cena of course squatted all over the tradition last year and cashed in his shot at the No Way Out PPV. He still went on to be in the title match at Mania, and lost. Ha.

I am in the upper level in section 219 about 4 rows up, which according to the layout, is almost aligned with the stage. So I may not have the greatest view of the set, but a clear view of the ring. And I will definitely be taking some pics.

About to leave now, only live a half hour from the arena. So with temps in the low 20s here, we decided to not wait outside for hours.

Incidentally, Taker did a fantastic job selling that dropkick. It's way too easy to make a dropkick-over-the-rope look totally retarded.
