I dunno. I've been interested in the angle, more or less. Seemed dumb to me, but it kept seeming interesting with JBL's delivery, and some level of drama in the outcome of matches, but now Michaels is crying and cowering?
Too far (Not in an "offended" sense, but as in straining the story)? EmoShawn was still a little dumb, but I have a lot more trouble buying him near tears and flinching away from Layfield than I have with him selling his soul and hating himself for it.
I know exactly where you're coming from.
For me, I've always associated Michaels as this "Couldn't give a rats"/anti-establishment/rule-breaking/devil-may-care/damn the consequences persona and now I'm expected to accept that he's turned into this snivelling, cowering pussy.

HBK post Rockers and DX was the greatest of all time. Being a giant pussy doesn't seem right on him.

HBK lost his smile
And by smile I mean balls

I think this whole thing is about JBL breaking Shawn's spirit more than anything.

JBL punked him in the shower

The promo would've been just as effective with Shawn not being able to look JBL in the eye, staying quiet, and looking guilty like he's been for most of the storyline. The trembling lip was too much, and completely ruined it.

That and flinching away. If they wanted to break him, doing it progressively would have worked better than just having him turn into a pussy in effectively one episode. I know there was a PPV this week and all, but considering how different he acted form just a week ago....

I actually see JBL winning at NWO, running with his newly won name for a couple months while Shawn gets more and more depressed, until HHH gives him a wakeup call. Shawn then starts "inadvertantly" costing HBJBL matches, building up to purposely costing him matches, building up to Shawn getting one last chance at getting his identity back - which he'll then win.

See, I took the trembling lip thing to be anger, not brokenness. Since JBL mentioned he couldn't touch him until NWO, and he was taunting him, I thought it was HBK's anger and frustration boiling over. Who knows though.
Dammit KK, update your sig.

that was my assessment of the situation. He was angry and frustrated he couldnt do anything, not that he was pussing out.

I predict that Shawn Michaels will overcome adversity.
Next year, and the following year, he will do the same.

I figured it meant basically selling "Shawn Micheals" not Micheal Hickenbottom, as in selling the rights to the name and the money that comes from it. So, HBK can do whatever he wants but any cash from his appearances as Shawn Micheals and HBK go to JBL. Sounded simple to me.

JBL also said "I can make you do what I want."
Remember the monkey suit bit? You could argue it being hyperbole, but it's no more ridiculous than most wrestling plots.

Shawn Michaels hasn't been the devil-may-care person since 1998, where have you been?
I dunno, I noticed a change in Michaels' character when he returned from being punted by Randy Orton. Ever since then he's been basically using the same shtick

Was that before or after Mania last year? It's all hazy to me...
