1: When is it happening again?

2: Who's it gonna be?

3: Does it really mean anything anymore?

It was going to mean something again, until Regal caught that roid rap. They were building him up for a decent push.

I wish they'd bring it back the way it was originally formatted. Pay-per-view in the summer, one night tournament. Winning it seems a lot more prestigious when the wrestler has to beat three guys in one night.

And it needs a real reward. Maybe a title shot against your brand's champion at Summerslam?

Is that too close to Money in the Bank? I really think that MiTB has supplanted KOTR.
I do mis the Tourney though. It would be a good way to elevate somebody like MVP or Miz/Morriosn to the ME level, if done right.

The success has been pretty hit or miss. On one hand, you had guys like Austin, HHH, and Edge have their careers really take off after being named KOTR. On the other hand, they've also given the title to Billy Gunn and Ken Shamrock (and he actually beat the friggin' Rock in the finals).

The fact that it's so damn sporadic now lessens the meaning, IMO. It's like they get into the summer months and say "shit, we don't have anything to fill up a few episodes of Raw/Smackdown...screw it...let's bring back KOTR." The fact that they went from 2002 to 2006 without one (and then from '06 to '08) took a lot of the prestige away. That's long enough for almost a whole era of fans to never really be exposed to the tournament.

Who knows...maybe they could hype it up by being super prestigious by only holding one every two years or so (making the gaps intentional, instead of just forgetting about it for years at a time). But that would make too much sense. I do agree that the MITB match has kind of supplanted that honor, though.

They should definitely bring back the one night tournament.

They should do this as a qualifier...8 Tag Teams. Each winning Tag Team will face that opponent in their first round match...

example....Miz and Morrison vs Kofi and Punk...Winners are Miz and Morrison, so the first round match up of the tournament is Miz vs Morrison.

I think it would add a different twist instead of just having qualifying matches.

Or...you could do the tournament down to the final 4...then have a tag match with the winning team having to compete against each other after the tag match.

Dunno about the first tgwo but when you look at how it's elvated stars in the past you have to say it means something. Regal got a HUGE push off of it and had he not gotten suspended he could have rode those waves pretty far. And before him Booker and Brock. Both of which gain huge momentum from it. And before that I think it was Edge. Who again got tons of credibility off the tournament.

Why are you so determined to get tag partners to face each other?

You can't lump shamrock into the failures. He was goin places until he decided to go back to MMA and without any doubt he would have had tons of sucess in wrestling if he had chose to stay.

KOTR is usually reserved for the guy who is about to make the push to main-event status. Angle, Austin, Booker all got their big push after winning. Regal would have if he didn't fuck up. So look for Morrison, DiBiase, Swagger to win this year.

Agreed. I don't think they plan to break Legacy up so soon, so I would shy away from DIbiasi. A KOTR win would be a good way to launch him into a great feud with Orton. That shouldn't be done....yet.

Weren't the first 6 KotR's house shows?

Yes. Your point being?

It seems that WWE are moving towards more gimmick based PPVs (Royal Rumble = Rumble Match, NWO = Elimination Chamber, WM = A gimmick in and of itself, Night of Champions = All titles defended, One Night Stand = All "hardcore" matches) so why not add KotR back in. It would certainly seperate some of the non-gimmicked PPVs that seem like back-to-back copies of each other.
