Also, Eruption by Van Halen is sweet, I just think it's a tad bit too short. :-\

Brian May...Brighton Rock...
Especially the like 40+minute versions he did live.
Generally, I don't go for super-long solos, it's just that there's a lot of awesome shit in the live versions that didn't see through on the record.

I like the solo in Bohemian Rhapsody. First one that came to mind. Nothing revolutionary I guess.

Well, in So. Cal, they play them on classic rock stations. So... I guess. They've been around long enough to be. Since '79..... I think.

Maybe opinions will have changed or newbs like me have an opinion on this.
I love Eruption, but my favourite guitar solo is from Hotel California. Nothing spectacular, but it just fits so well with the song, much like the guitar solo on Freebird.

Hotel California.
While the "solo" part of Layla isn't very long, the guitar work throughout is so phenomenal it gets an honorable mention from me.

I wouldn't go that far, Miz, but Eruption is definitely not one of classic rock's best solos.

Comfortably Numb by Floyd.
A lot of feeling in that solo. Most solos are just there for the sake of being there.

Damn, my old posts aren't very good. I don't really remember taking Van Halen that seriously. Maybe just that song. Oh well. You know what's a good classic rock solo?
Whole Lotta Love.
Seriously... that 20 or so seconds of guitar... Wow.
