The game has just been confirmed. From Oxm.co.uk
Dead Rising 2 confirmed
Monday 9-Feb-2009 4:11 PM Capcom announces the sequel to its massively popular action horror...
2 CommentsCapcom has confirmed that Dead Rising 2 is currently in development.
Advertisement:
The press release is light on details but mentions "Dead Rising 2 will take the franchise to a new level of zombie-killing fun with tens of thousands of zombies, the all new gambling paradise of Fortune City to explore and conquer plus a host of new in-game objects that can all be used as deadly weapons to stave off the zombie assault."
Will Fortune City be loosely based on Las Vegas? Sounds like it. Dead Rising was one of Capcom's surprise hits two years ago, along with Lost Planet. Fix that save system and we'll definitely be there for the sequel...

So that's really weird. I wonder what happened to *SPOILERS for anyone who hasn't played/beaten it* Frank?
I mean, when you beat Brock, it shows Frank on the tank screaming. And if you get the right ending, you see it say that he and Isabella made it out...but then there's some line about "and yet his belly was not full", from some poem. At least judging by these screenshots, that serum Isabella made only halts the progress temporarily, and I even remember her saying that close to the end of DR 1, something like that it could suppress it for a week, a month, or a year, but she didn't know.

Probably going to be similar to how they did the massive amounts of zombies in the 1st game. Closet zombies to Frank were fully detailed, then next set of zombies were medium detailed, and then 1-2 more sets farthest away but were almost like cardboard cut-outs to create the illusion of hundreds of zombies.

Dunno. In DR they only spoke in cutscenes aside from Frank yelling "this way, follow me, or over here." Of course the survivors would just shout the occasional, "help me, somebody....," and my favorite "son of a bitch."
The detail put into the survivors is way better this time as well.

Just pre-ordered Dead Rising 2 and got all the achievements on Case Zero. I'm new to the franchise and the one problem I have is the timer.
It restricted the feeling of 'freedom' in the game, and I didn't have time to do everything I needed (rescue all the survivors, buy Zombrex, rebuild the bike and save Katey) until I played the second time around, because then I knew where to find everything.
I think when I play the actual game, I'll have one save game for the story, and one save game for fucking around finding secrets and killing zombies.
#BROKEN Hasney
09-19-2010, 06:48 AM
I prefer it that way, give it a sense of urgency. Without it you could just stand around killing all day.
It's not as restrictive as the first game though seemingly, having just done the first case.

Killing all day is fine. Getting some of the achievements for killing 1000+ zombies will probably require this much effort.
I've not played the first game, but I've heard bitching that the timer was restricting especially if you saved the game in one location and needed to be in another quickly. I hope the developers took this on board.
I also don't like that Chuck can't run or dash, even if just for short periods. He sort of jogs around lethargically.

No, you can only get the sixshooter once, unless it respawns in a Pawn Shop later maybe?
I've started a co-op run with a friend doing some of the random shit here and there as we go. We killed Lance the bmx fag and then went back to Yucatan Casino to save Lenny. Gave the tard the LMG hidden on top of that central area with the Zombrex. So on our way back from the casino we run thru the food court and run into the psycho chef. HOLY SHIT. Dude was flinging plates and pans at us left and right. He knocked my partner out and I went to save him with a spoiled hot dog and right as I'm saving him the chef charges me and kills me, but at the same time Lenny finishes him off with a gunshot from the LMG. That might be why it didn't pop up. Once you do that you unlock Overtime mode as well. I ended with Rank S when it was all said and done.

Look at it this way, it's a good way to level up. I'm level 50 now and everything is much easier to do.

Does anyone have any tips on defeating the motobike boss on the Platinum Strip? I need to do it quick and clean, so I'll have enough time to rescue a survivor.

He's pretty easy to beat, think I used the electric rake to finish him. But someone at xbox360achievements has this guide for all psychopaths:

I've found the easiest way to kill him is to stand by the maintenance room near Atlantica Casino and lure him towards you. 80% of the time his dumbass will get stuck on the wall and he's easy picking. I will say that the knive gloves (boxing gloves + combat knife) are an amazing combo to kill Leon. If this doesn't work after a few tries, invite me to your game and I'll kick his ass for you.
I'm pissed atm because a friend and I were beasting last night. We beat the poker players, 2 in 1 hand, and then saved the strippers. Had spare time so we saved another guy then went and did Tape it or Die part 1 (major pain in the ass trying to get them to show up btw), and went and gave Katy Zombrex and had 12 hours to do survivor missions. So we beat WWJWD and then did Lenny's side missions where you get to raid the vault in Yucatan, and grabbed Bank Heist on the way back. Went to start Ante Up (strip poker game), AND THE FUCKING GAME FROZE!!! I was so pissed.

I just went ahead and skipped over him. The survivor I needed to rescue was the guy in need of Zombrex, so I had to go find him some, and there was no way I could've of done both. Thanks for the tips though I'll definitely use them on my next playthrough.
Have to say I'm enjoying this game a lot more than the first. They did a good job of keeping the charm and uniqueness of the first game, whilst adding on a ton of new fun features. Also the survivors are not bumbling idiots who need your constant attention, which is a huge plus for me.

I've yet to have an issue with dumb AI. Even the ones that need you to carry them do a better job of not getting grabbed.

I love the knife-gloves and the nail/mma glove combo. Going to give this a couple of days rest and get on with F1 and FIFA 11 so it wont feel so much like a chore going through again.

My neighbors little boy just pointed out to me an awesome weapon combination the fire axe and the sledge hammer. Both items are practically in my safe house, and make an awesome combined weapon.
Also Ermaxius I was talking about the survivor AI in the last game, which could be horrid at times.

The defiler? Hahahaha it's one of my top 5 combo weapons easily. Other good combos are the rocket launcher (lead pipe and the rocket fireworks), the blambow (bow and arrow and dynamite), the snowball cannon (squirt gun and fire exstinguisher), the rolling thunder (battery and goblin mask), and the ripper (cement saw and saw blade).

Just finished Ovetime on my first way through. For the last few missions all I carried around was the Knife-gloves and shit loads of Orange Juice.
Fun game, gonna assault it again for the achievements later. I'm having trouble finding opportunities to escort 8 survivors at once, but I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point.

My best way to do it.
When the game starts go and get the Zombrex from the pharmacy, rescue the pharmacist and then take her to the safe room. Then go to the Yucatan Casino, kill Ted and feed Snowflake 3 steaks to lure her back to the safe room. Give Katie the Zombrex. Then grab Lashonda and Gordon from the dark bean/ladies clothing store. Go out and get Chad and Doris in the Platinum Strip. Then go to the Palisades and grab Kenneth and Jack. Exit through the Yucatan Casino and grab Lenny. (He's behind the door on the left as you come into the casino from the mall.) Then escort everyone back to safe room vent and make them wait there (lt + y) Then go back upstairs and grab Esther from the toy store. As soon as she joins you, you'll get the achievement. If you need help after that let me know as I'm always down to help people with stuff like that.

Thanks! I took a mixture of your advice and the youtube video. Got it done straight away. Although as soon as I do it, the very next mission I find myself escorting 4, then 6 and then 8 people again - Typical! The magazine for 'Leadership' was very handy though.
Got 25 achievements now, I don't think I'm gonna try get all of them (70,000 zombie slayings!?) but I'll have a crack at the ones that are fun.

Slappy was the last boss I defeated. The missile dropkick helped a load with that one.

Are there yellow rubber duckies in the game and can they be duct taped to a bazooka or rocket launcher?

DLC costumes revealed by Capcom for the "Off the Record" DLC edition with only The Warrior costume being tied to pre-ordering the content at Gamestop.
No confirmation of pricing for the pack in the US but if Capcom goes by the pricing in Japan, then around 160 MS points each ($2).

The point is to play the game with a different(ish) story and to play DR2 with mechanics and gameplay people liked in DR1 but improved. Maybe new areas, I don't know, I never played DR2 other than the Case Zero XBLA game.
Plus it looks more comedic, which I like.

Thought it better to bump an old thread than create a whole new one. So, I finally have DR2. It's not OTR but, still.
Was enjoying it but I have just screwed myself over. You know the day is broken into chapters. Well, I was doing one chapter and saw time was running low so I went ahead to the place I had to be thinking the limit was for me to get to my destination. I then find out that time was for the entire chapter and not just the current objective. I've saved in such a way that I cannot possibly finish the chapter in time and have to restart the story!
<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4bHXMogzEm0?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Please tell me that, if I do restart the story, I wont lose the progress I had carried over from Case:Zero.

Just carry on your current game untill the three days or whatever it is are up, it doesn't take too long. Not only will you carry on leveling up but you then when you restart you keep your level.
Haven't played this for some time, might have to dust it off again and get back into it, haven't reached level 50 and still need to do a number of achievements for this.

Hate the boss fights. The boss characters are very cool but the fights themselves, I absolutely hate.
Do I basically club a boss once and then run in circles for 30 seconds, club him again and run off again etc? I can't exactly wail on him because they don't react to being hit in the way other enemies do. They still go through the animation of swinging a weapon at you.

03-06-2013, 04:52 PM
Which boss are you having trouble with?
I always took with me two lots of boxing glove/knife combo and sledgehammer/fire axe combo (I completly forget the name of these) but with some food you can normally wail on the bosses a number of times, dealing a fair amount of damage before you retreat and regain yourself.

Guy with the dreads in the toilet and the chef who I swear is voiced by the guy that voices Bender.
When I try to smash a boss he tends not to react and just starts hitting me as if I was doing nothing to him.
Also, I entered the chef battle with full health and I swear he hit me with one plate and I went down to one square of health. I made it a point to go into that fight with full health.
I use the axe/sledgehammer combo.
The only boss I've managed to kill is the guy in the dungarees in the casino. Being vague incase I spoil something for someone.
I think everything is great about the game. It's just the bosses and the whole "you saved at a time you shouldn't have and now you're screwed" situations that bring it down for me.
Disturbed316
03-06-2013, 06:04 PM
Oh yeah, that dreads guy is pretty hard, I didn't deal with him till much later on after I'd level up abit, I think with him it is just running around untill he tires himself out and then you wail on him.
The chef guy really annoyed the hell out of me, I went after him later in the game, because nearer the begining he's too strong to beat. I found shotguns worked pretty well against him.

I'd wait but they are timed. If they were there the entire game, I'd level up. I'm only on day 2 and they show up and I'm level 9.
