View Full Version : Hall Of Fame, Class of 2009...

Austin is heading the class, with Bill Watts, Ricky (The Redneck) Steamboat. And just added is Terry and Dory Funk and the Von Erichs.
I think they are all well deserved, apart from Bill Watts maybe, but I just don't know who to believe when it comes to him.
What do you reckon? Is there ANY more Texans that haven't had the call yet?

There may be, but that's plenty of nominees for one year.

I'd be expecting at least one more, 2 if they induct the Funk's together, which I expect they will.

Gory Guerrero? He was a pioneer of wrestling, especially down in Mexico, and was the innovator of some moves which have been accepted wildly into wrestling culture. He also was the patriarch of the Guerrero wrestling family. His sons all wrestlers (Eddie Guerrero a former WWE Champion and already in the WWE Hall of Fame), and his grandson still employed by the WWE.
Gory Guerrero being inducted by Chavo Guerrero is something I'd like to see.

I also don't see why all the nominees have to be Texan. They could induct someone completely, just to shake things up. For example, they could induct a female competitor, like, fuck, let's just say Trish Stratus. She's young, but she brought on the new wave of female wrestling, and who really wants to induct her when she's old?

Well, Ricky Steamboat is about as Texan as I am.....
Fabien Barthez

I am not from Texas, just to clear this matter up.

That's true, but I don't see why there just needs to be one exception to the rule, either.

what about Paul Boesch famous promotor out of houston
Booker T's from Texas :shifty:
I doubt they'd do it, but Jake Roberts.
...and Paul London :shifty:

Gory Guerrero would be a great choice.
...and Paul London :shifty:
His greatest achievement was finding Shawn Michaels' smile at the wrong time.
And for doing this when he shouldn't have...

It's probably because Steamboat works for WWE, and everyone else won't require Vince to pay for their whole family to fly out, since they will be close by anyway.
It's a good way to link the show with the Mania location, and maximise the profit from doing it I guess. And as long as they keep with the last 2 years tradition of having Mania in big, old teritory areas, they can keep doing this and inducting those who made their names in those areas.
You know who needs to go in? Howard Finkel. He'd be an awesome "filler".

Howard Finkel deserves his own wing in the Hall of Fame and a half hour special on the USA Network.

A Fucking Men.
He isn't just an announcer either, he has worked in every creative aspect of the business for longer than pretty much everybody.
Isn't there a story about how he came up with the title 'Wrestlemania'? Or am I thinking of someone else?
Either way, if there is a guy who is a non-worker who deserves it, it is him. Since all the other best non-workers are already in.
I was also thinking about earl Hebner. Other than Montreal, where he was exposed by Beyond the Mat as the biggest two faced pussy of them all, he has had a pretty flawless career.
TNA though these days, if I'm right. So I guess that's that nixed.
Yeah, even if Earl wasn't with TNA and was retired, I don't think Vince would put him in.
Many years will have passed before that one's considered again.
I doubt Hebner will ever be in the HOF. I mean, he was stealing from WWE. That's pretty low, even by WWE standards.

Finkel claims he came up with WrestleMania (although it's disputed... can't remember who claims to have actually come up with it, maybe David Schultz).
Finkel was Vince McMahon's first ever employee. The only non-McMahon link to the very day Titan Sports/WWE was born. And THE voice of wrestling ring announcing.
If he doesn't go in during his lifetime it would be a crime.

Barry Windham is from the south, not sure where but he should be in.

Really? I don't remember hearing about this?
What did he steal? HBK's smile? McMahon's Millions?

I think it was WWE merchandise and sold it on the side.
WWE merchandise and then he and his brother Dave would sell it at some store they owned.

Arn Anderson would be awesome. Any of the original 4 Horsemen would be great picks. I just wonder how long WWE will wait to blow their load on inducting The Rock.
Santino=Greatness
02-10-2009, 08:48 PM
My question is with the years to come, will we see all legends inducted or just the one's who aren't on bad terms with McMahon and the WWE. Say for example Macho Man or Mick Foley?

Yeah, pretty much.

I think unless HBK or Taker retire at mania next year, It will be the rock.
And as for Santino's question.... Time will tell, but probably.

I agree the Fink deserves a HOF spot because he has done so much for the business and it needs to be recognized
Santino=Greatness
02-10-2009, 08:59 PM
And I feel the one who most deserves a HOF is the great Owen Hart. Its the least Mcmahon could do for him and honor not only a great wrestler, but one of the greatest and honorable men in the business

I think they will save The Rock for when WrestleMania goes back to L.A. Speaking of which, any word on where WrestleMania XXVI might be?

Yeah pretty sure it will be at University of Phoenix Stadium. It'll be announced during Wrestlemania week.

Somebody said something about James Johnston going in. Besides the Fink, he's the best non-worker choice.
Mr. Nerfect
02-11-2009, 03:47 PM
Howard Finkel is such an obvious choice, I missed it. I'd definitely recommend Gory Guerrero and Howard Finkel for the list. Arn Anderson is someone I thought would be already in. My guess is that he goes in next year, however.

According to wikipedia, it has 63,400 permanent seats and can be expanded to fit 73,719. I wonder if Vince McMahon would ever have the balls to book WrestleMania in the new Dallas Cowboys stadium ( capacity of 80,000 for football, and estimated to be expandable up to 100,000).
Fink: Thanks to you, 125,813 fans!

p.s. Is Iron Sheik already in? I would LOVE to hear his acceptance speech! lol

I think The Iron Sheik is already in.
I can see Randy Savage being inducted next year. They're released a DVD for him in June, so I think Vince may be slowly getting over his grudge. Savage is a pretty big one, but just to upstage him, I can see Vince making himself the biggest induction of that ceremony. That's right, I'm calling it: Vince McMahon to head the Hall of Fame Class of 2010. :shifty:

Noid, I truly agree with you. I can't see Vince actually inducting Macho without burying him one last time. It seems like him to grit his teeth and induct the Kliq, then Michaels, Nash, Hall, and HHH individually and finally, Macho Man.
But while We're on it, they should induct the four horsemen and the kliq as stables. each guy could go in separately, but these factions had so much impact on wrestling, that they've taken on a life of their own. And when will we get a Kliq documentary?
