I would have had Fake Kane be the real Kane. Paul Bearer locks up the real Kane (Kane #2) because he believes he is losing his edge. Kane #2 then escapes and feuds with Kane #1. But then they form an alliance and double chokeslam Bearer straight to hell. The Kane #1 and Kane #2 agree to have a match where the loser must be repackaged as a retard....

I'd have had Fake Kane revealed to be a big guy who is trying to get into Kane's head. Instead of him actually thinking he is Kane, or Kane thinking that he is, it's basically just the guy playing him (who eventually became Festus) messing with his head.
