It's... THE NIGHT OF EXTREME!

From PWInsider:

The 6/7 WWE PPV will now be titled "Night of Extreme."

The June PPV, originally titled One Night Stand was re-named "Extreme Rules" a few weeks back.

I would prefer they just go back to the shitty, Generic, Clint Eastwood movie name sounding titles they have always used.

Wasn't it one of the worst-selling PPVs last year? And not so hot before that? Now that ECW is no longer a novelty niche, and the brand specific thing is dead, what's te point?

WWE needs to bring back Fully Loaded.

So in one month they are having 2 PPVs with the same name with no special stipulations surrounding it. Why don't they just cancel it and give people their money baaa...ohhhh, that's why they didn't cancel it.

WWE needs to bring back Fully Loaded.

I loved that PPV name. They should change "Night of Champions" to "Fully Loaded." Also, turning one of their generic mid-year PPVs into "King of the Ring" would be great.

January: Royal Rumble
February: No Way Out
March/April: WrestleMania
April: Backlash
May: Judgment Day (Extreme Rules)
June: King of the Ring
June: Fully Loaded (Night of Champions)
July: The Great American Bash
August: Summerslam
September: Unforgiven
October: Halloween Havoc
November: Survivor Series
December: Starrcade

There you go, some PPV names and a way to give each PPV some identity.

Update from PWInsider:

The 6/7 WWE PPV formerly known as One Night Stand is back to being titled "Extreme Rules" again on the WWE website, so the change yesterday was either an error or an idea that has been discarded that quick.

I guess they heard the positive reaction and put a stop to it.

I don't think we'll see a King of the Ring PPV again in the modern era because with the brand extension the PPV's are all just a bunch of main event and upper mid card matches. They don't do PPV's that works it's way up from the bottom up to the main event like they used to.

Like, look at the Wrestlemania card last year. Apart from MITB each match had a main event or upper mid card guy wrestling in them. Rewind back to like Wrestlemania 17, you had an IC title match, European title match, RTC vs APA & Tazz, stuff like that towards the start then culminates with the main event.

The way it's done these days is more star studded but the other way is the traditional way to book a card.

I really would like to see Night of Champions and No Mercy renamed Fully Loaded and Halloween Havoc respectively

Jeritron
02-26-2009, 07:18 PM
That isn't to say they have to be permenantly. I like the ppv titles being switched up yearly, aside from the big ones. They've stopped doing that since the attitude era.

I guess I'm just not keen on the same ppv names every year, since I think that is a history that should only belong to the annual cornerstones. Unforgiven is going into it's 11th year. Same with many others. I feel like only Rumble, Mania, Summerslam and Survivor Series should have "annual history".

"Halloween Havoc" is such a horrible, horrible name.

Also, if you want a ppv full of extreme matches, then why not bring back the name "Bad Blood"? It hints rather well at violence.

Savio

I hated the name bad blood I'd rather go for "21 chair shots"

I think they're more likely to add more PPVs.

Which means more chances for War Games! :shifty:

And while we're at it, do you think we could add a Pay Per View where all the matches take place inside a steel cage/HIAC?

Bowflex presents Hang Em High wouldn't go over so well

Afterlife
02-27-2009, 01:01 AM
"Bedtime For Bonzo" would be 2 hours and 45 minutes of CM Punk kneeing chimps in the head. I'd pay thirty bucks for that.

Jeritron

No, the name will be decided before the actual event via online polls and text messaging

Which will be tossed out when "Night of Chyna" gets more votes than the other choices combined.

As much as we love the KotR, by today's WWE standards it does make more sense to do it on a three hour Raw than a PPV. You'd still have qualifying matches and guys from all brands, but this way you can do longer matches and give the mid-card guys a chance to shine all in one night. It's makes the winner look better than just competing in the finals somewhere on a regular PPV card amid six other championship matches. Plus, you'd probably get more people watching it than the PPV itself.
