The barbed wire steel cage match was just awful. I believe it was JBL v. Big Show in 2005 @ No Way Out.

Also, I find Barbed Wire matches to be generally boring.

The problem for me is I love technical/high flying stuff... so taking out the ropes pretty much eliminates all of that. One Irish Whip into the ropes and that's it.

However, I like the use of Barb Wire in matches though. That can be fun. Mick Foleys 2x4 covered in Barbed Wire, and the tag team match at One Night Stand 2006 with the Barbed Wire Board, stuff like that is cool to see once in a while.

Yeah in it's own twisted way...but then I watched a vid of the ending on youtube, and I remembered after that night thinking how gay it was that they wasted time with the "Cabinet" attacking Show and then Batista and Cena come to his rescue and Cena puts J.B.L. through the staging equipment and all that. R-tarded I know, but interesting nonetheless.

Yeah, having the guys in the match being afraid of the ropes makes the psychology of a match very awkward.

I like the feeling of uncertantiy int he matches. I like technical high flying stuff as well adn I do like Sick Nick Mondo. But only like barb wire matches. When you start putting in explosive coffins and light tubes and all that other shit thats just too much. I like seeing jsut straight barb wire matches. I really think light tubes should just not be used in wrestling. Ilike to see thumbtacks used. Like when Mic Foly or Abyss pulls out a bag of thumbtacks i get real excited seeing them used it really bring up the level of pain in ahard core matched and barb wire wrapped weapons are just great you can't go wrong with barb wire 2x4 or flaming one. But some of the shit CZW or IWA mid south does where they have like 200 light tube barb wire thumbtack bar foot matches. That is just really too much wheres the fun when alls ou can do is watch gthe wrestlers get lacerated and bleed to death. Brab wire matches in my opinion can only be done by like few select people. IMO abyss and Sabu do the best out of making them generally entertaining
