View Full Version : WWE SmackDown Taping Results (02/06) *Spoilers*
SmackDown: (Airing This Week)
A contract signing between Big Show & Edge is announced for tonight. Triple H will also take on Umaga.
The Undertaker opens SmackDown with a promo about his match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania. He says that he accepts Shawn's challenge.
A Shawn Michaels video package is shown.
Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy tonight with the winner getting a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania.
Jeff Hardy goes to Vickie's office. He said he won't fight Matt but he will qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match.
Matt Hardy comes out to the ring and cuts a promo. He talks about how Jeff won't fight him but says once they both qualify, he'll finally get his hands on him. He's drawing a lot of heel heat.
MVP b. Matt Hardy to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 25.
- MVP builds up a solid offense early on. Matt counters and attempts to connect with Twist of Fate. MVP reverses it to get the win via pinfall.
Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin is announced for tonight.
R-Truth b. Chavo Guerrero
Good back and forth match. R-Truth gets the win via pinfall.
The Big Show & Edge contract signing is up next.
Vickie starts the segment in the ring. Edge comes out without the World Heavyweight Championship belt and asks Vickie about what is going on with her and Big Show. Big Show comes out... They sign the contract. Big Show then cuts a promo saying that Edge is not a good champion and Vickie agrees. John Cena comes out and interrupts. Cena cleans house hitting Big Show with a low blow and throwing Edge into the ring post then hitting him with a table. Cena whispers something in Vickie's ear and leaves. Vickie leaves the ring in tears.
Maryse b. Eve in a non-title match
Michelle McCool joins Tazz & Jim Ross on commentary. Lots of boring chants started throughout the match. After the match, Melina comes out and is attacked by Michelle.
Shelton Benjamin b. Jeff Hardy in a Money in the Bank ladder match qualifier
Shelton gets the win after Matt Hardy comes out and hits him disqualifying Jeff.
Triple H vs. Umaga
Triple H starts out at a strong pace, but Umaga eventually gains control. Power shifts back and forth. According to several of our correspondents it appears as if Umaga tweaked his leg as the referee held up the "x" signal. Legacy comes out of the crowd and attacks Triple H. Randy Orton keeps teasing the punt. He stands over Triple H as this week's SmackDown goes off the air.

Sounds like a fairly interesting show. Good to see Smackdown getting spiced up with more people from other brands interfering.
Here's the part I don't get though...
They sign the contract. Big Show then cuts a promo saying that Edge is not a good champion and Vickie agrees.

MVP was pretty much a shoo-in, but it's good to see Shelton in MITB.

Shame about Umaga.
When I first started to read it, I thought WWE was gonna fuck up the Hardy storyline but now I see where they're going.
I'm interested in seeing that MVP/Matt Hardy match.

I think it's Big Show saying that Vickie agrees. Not Vickie actually saying she agrees.
Vickie is fucking the Big Show.
Why would she? He has like no penis.

She'll really need that wheelchair if she fucks the Big Show

Who would be the face in that scenario then? Edge? A face turn doesn't seem like a good idea at this point.
The Big Show's winning the big one at Wrestlemania!

Unless it's Big Show using Vickie for his advantage then ditching her.
Also, apparently The In-Crowd will face the Colons again next week for the World Tag Team titles.

Hopefully they end up unifying the tag titles. 2 sets of them is redundant when there are barely enough legitimate teams to justify having a tag title at all.

I hope they do this at WrestleMania

Heel on heel violence since they'll have Cena there to balance it out.

I'm going to be honest -- I don't like the direction that they are going with the World Heavyweight Title match. Mainly because Cena is stinking up what could be a great program between Edge and Big Show, based entirely off Vickie Guerrero loving the elephant cock. It's a damn-near misogynist form of entertainment, if Big Show is banging Vickie and gloats about it, he would instantly be a babyface, regardless of the moral qualities of his actions, or how dirty the ho he teabagging is.
Some of the matches on this show look pretty good, though. The ones involving the Hardys being the main exhibits. I'm a little disappointed that they're not going to do Shelton vs. MVP at WrestleMania, but I guess going for a World Title shot whenever they want is even higher. So we've got CM Punk, Kane, Mark Henry, MVP and Shelton Benjamin confirmed for the match. With Morrison & Miz likely facing Carlito & Primo, and Melina and Maryse feuding, they might as well move the IC and US Titles off Punk and Benjamin, and have whoever wins each wrestle each other. Just throwing Rey Mysterio vs. Vladimir Kozlov as a potential route they could go with that.
I think you need John Cena in there. Edge is a heel (obviously) and Show is basically a tweener. Plus, I don't see an Edge/Show match being that much of a draw.

03-03-2009, 11:00 PM
Edge/Show could be a good match, but it wouldn't be a draw at this point in because Show is a tweener. It'd be better to add Cena to the match and let that take its course than rush an Edge face turn before Mania.

I really don't see Edge/Show/Cena being that much of a draw, either. It's just a messy match. If they turned Show into a proper face, and just had him trying to knock Edge the fuck out, there's your title match. It doesn't need to be epic huge; Triple H vs. Randy Orton is headlining anyway.
How is a match with John Cena at WrestleMania not going to draw?? He could wrestle the hot dog vendor and it'll draw at Mania. I think you're forgetting how much the WWE Universe loves John Cena.

That qualifier pretty much says it all for me.
My point is, any match John Cena is in at WM is going to draw, whereas Edge/Show will not.

Truth is, it doesn't matter where they put Cena. A match with Hogan, while it would be shitty in the ring, would probably do so much good for Cena long-term. That may actually draw. If Cena being in any sort of program is going to "draw" (Does Cena actually draw? Aren't buyrates and shit down?), why does it matter where the fuck they stick him? Wouldn't a creatively good place be better, so they can get the best work out of him?
Also, who says that Edge/Show can't draw on relative terms? Big Show is pretty massively over with people. Maybe not on John Cena levels, but if he turned face, and knocked out Vickie Guerrero (example), you can easily position him to make the WWE some money. Big Show hasn't done too poorly when it comes to ratings and shit, I believe.

So your reasoning on not doing Show/Edge/Cena in a feud over the title Cena has been chasing is to randomly stick Cena in a shitty match with Hogan, even though Jericho is the guy who has spent months berating legends, is what?

Vickie Guerrero could sign the match as a way of getting under Cena's skin. One of Cena's strongest qualities over his career has always been his "Chain Gang." Vickie Guerrero could attack him at that level, cutting him off from his fans, by putting him in a match against Hulk Hogan.
I'd rather see that shitty match than that boring match between Cena, Edge and Show.

Why do you think that match would be boring? Edge and Cena would come out with some big spots, Show is at the top of his game right now, and it's going to mix up the storylines with the results.

I've just got a bad feeling about it. Maybe I'm wrong, and Cena will be entertaining for the first time in six years? I hope that I am. I'd just prefer something other than another Triple Threat at WrestleMania, I guess.
I've never been a big Cena guy, but I think he's been good ever since returning from the injury.

I dont see Orton not winning the title....So Edge will retain a la Orton Last Year.
1 change, 1 defense.
There's no way in hell they'll let Wrestlemania end with 2 heel champions. The little fanboys would cry.

I agree that Orton has got a good shot at winning now, but I think the face/heel dynamic is more of a priority to the WWE than the quanity of title changes.
If Orton wins the title, I think it is more likely that Cena will win his match -- not less.
