Were they together ever? Did they have the NWA Championship in the WW(W)F?

Juan

Yeah the NWA Undisputed Champion would often compete in the WWWF, before the WWWF belt was established.

Whoa there was a NWA Undisputed title? Tell me about it.

Lou Thesz was the original NWA Undisputed champion, after winning the National Wrestling Association World Heavyweight title in 1948, the National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight title in 1949 and the Los Angeles Olympic Auditorium World Heavyweight title in 1952. He also won a number of regional titles along the way and pinned AWA World Champion Gorgeous George in 1950.

There was some NWA angle in 1998 with Cornette, Jarrett and a few others.

Jarret was the NWA north american champ and the Headbagners NWA tag champ.

They also had Bob Holly and Bart Gunn as the New Midnight Express. They came in as the champions.

If they recognize Flair as a 16 time NWA/WWF/WCW World Heavyweight Champion then why aren't they acknowledging Christian as a 2 time Champion?

Juan
03-06-2009, 03:21 PM
Because NWA has basically lost all prestige since the Flair days.

Actually, it was the Rock 'n Roll express who came in as the tag champions (being managed by Jim Cornette, which was a major scandal in and of itself), they got beat by the Headbangers in a tag match, only to have it reversed when one of the Rock 'n Roll guys got thrown over the top rope, as witness by NWA referee Tommy Young (iirc). The next week, they won it outright when it was called by a WWF official.

Then the New Midnight Express attacked the Rock 'n Roll Express.

I wish they had done more with that NWA angle, it seemed different and I was interested. Maybe it wasn't a good idea doing it during a really hot period for the business and maybe they could have used better workers.

TNA has no affiliation with NWA anymore. In answer to the Christian question.

The NWA randomly refuse to recognise former title reigns every now and then. They pulled some WCW tag team ones if I remember rightly, last year.

Christian won it in TNA, though.

The NWA angle with Jarrett and Cornette was one of my favorite angles ever. It's to bad it was dropped so quick. I know most fans hated the thing and thought it was dumb. I thought it was a cool concept.

I loved Jeff Jarrett's theme during this time.

"There's all the great WWF Wrestlers....and then there's me" LOL Brilliant.
