OK I have no idea what the deal is with this series. They just came out with Resident Evil 5, so it made me think that there were 5 Resident Evil games but then I realized I have heard of like 20 different ones
So here's some weird list I came up with:
Resident Evil - What system is this on? This game has pretty much been forgotten it seems
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles
Resident Evil Outbreak
Resident Evil Outbreak File 2
Resident Evil Zero
Resident Evil Code Veronica X
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Resident Evil Code Veronica
Resident Evil Deadly Silence
Resident Evil Director's Cut
Resident Evil Dead Aim
Resident Evil: The Essentials
That is like 600 fucking Resident Evil games so what is the order they were released and what are they on and what the fuck is the deal with this. How did they just release Resident Evil 5 when there are seriously like 15 games in that series. I don't know if I've even played one. Are there more
What are you talking about the first Resident Evil has been forgotten about. It was released on the Playstation, then there was REmake for the Gamecube and now there is a port being made for the Wii. There is also one on the DS.

I have Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3, on the PC.
2 was the pinnacle of Resident Evil games.

2 scared the bejesus out of me.
Its like the GTA series. They are only up to number 4, but have loads of other games in the series.

You mean 5, right?

SF would have been a better example, considering there aren't that many GTA spinoffs.

The main series is:
Resident Evil 0
Resident Evil 1
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil Code Veronica X
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 5
The rest are spin offs that give a bit more background and story. Not sure where Umbrella Chronicles fits in as it sort of fills in a few of the gaps between each game but also covers 0,1 and 3.
Also in your list Resident Evil 3 is Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Nemesis is just a subtitle. Code Veronica and Code Veronica X is also pretty much the same game, only X has some additions I believe. Resident Evil Directors Cut is just Resident Evil 1 with Dual Shock support I think and also an Easy/Arrange setting.

London 1961
London 1969
Vice City
Vice City Stories
Liberty City Stories
San andreas
GTA Advance
GTA Chinatown Wars
8 is a lot in my book
While they were released as separate games on the PS1, London 61 and 69 were technically expansion packs for the PC, not spin-offs.
And apparently 61 wasn't even released on PS1.

If you want to count GTA expansions, then Lost & Damned goes on the list.

And RE: The Essentials is just a compilation of other REs. It's not a seperate game at all.

For that matter, why are RE:3 and RE:3:Nemesis getting listed as seperate games?
