View Full Version : Missed Opportunity for 3/16 Raw

I think tonight was a missed opportunity on tonights Raw to bring Steve Austin into the mix. The show was broadcasted from Texas, it was on 3/16 edition of Raw, and in 2 weeks he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Honestly I was hoping he would be involves with the Jericho segment, but really to see him in any copasity tonight would have been pretty nice. Whether it was a walk in to deliver a Stunner to a member of the crew, or just talk on the mic for 5-10 minutes.

IDK, maybe it wouldn't have added to the show. Maybe I'm just speaking as an Austin fan who thought it would be cool. But hey, it would have at least promoted the Hall of Fame, and to see Austin before his induction. I felt with today's date and tonights venue it would have been the best time to do it, but that's just me.

They should bring him back with a gimmick where he just randomly appears, shakes his head at people and then goes "WHAT?" and leaves.

If he's not wrestling Jericho, then WWE would do a great disservice to Jericho and the legends he's wrestling by having Austin appear. It would completely overshadow what they're trying to do. Save him until Mania.

They should bring him back with a gimmick where he just randomly appears, jobs on ECW each week and returns to TNA under the name Christian Cage.

I kind of expected him to come out and help Cena.

It would have been awesome in the Jericho segment. Ric Flair comes out, dressed up in the nice suit, says his piece, and then says that he's not going to come out of retirement to face Jericho, but he's found someone who will. *Glass shatters*

The event being in San Antonio, they could have then had Shawn Michaels bump into Ric Flair backstage, and give Flair permission to come out of retirement to face Jericho at Mania if he so wishes. It makes sense, because HBK looks altruistic, it's in his hometown, and HBK and Jericho have a lot of hatred flowing between them.

RAW could have ended with the possibility of both Jericho vs. Austin and Jericho vs. Flair for WrestleMania. The WWE would have to go with one of them, though, and personally, Jericho vs. Flair would not have bothered me, if they couldn't have gotten Austin to wrestle.

If Austin didn't appear three weeks before Mania in Texas, he isn't showing up until Mania.

If the handicapped match actually goes on at Mania this entire storyline was a waste. The only thing that can save it is Rourke getting involved physically, and even then it's lackluster at best.

But its cheaper than bringing in Floyd Mayweather.

Truthfully, the fact the Mr. Piper is in the match makes me sick. He needs to go away and stay away. The other two are not so bad, since its a rare apperance to see them wrestle.

I thought it might have been a good chance to save Sim Snuka to have him as the guy to face Jericho at WM, for his father's honor (Replace Sim with David Flair, Ried Flair, Ritchie Steamboat etc)

Really? Even with the gut, Piper looks somewhat healthier than the rest of them. On top of that, Jimmy looks like he's near the grave, and Dragon hasn't wrestled in 15 years.

That would have been a good angle. Better than this shit.

Actually, the thing that annoys me most about this match is that it's 1 man vs. 3 legends...how does that really make anyone in this match look?

I've got to be honest, I'd rather see Hogan squash Jericho than see this. There's just no "Epic Feel" to the match that the angle had when it started.

Honestly, I'd rather have had Jericho in MITB than to have to subject him to working with three senior citizens far past their primes. Not only that, but he'll probably get KO'd by Rourke, Figure Foured by Flair and Stunnered by Austin before the night is up, which means WM25 will make him out to be even more of a bitch than WMX-8, and that's saying something.

They should have Stone Cold make a surprise return on ECW so they can win the ratings war against TNA.

I didn't know World's Most One Sided Fistfights was on.

That would have been too predictable. By not having Austin on the show last night they showed how unpredictable they can be.

I dunno, like someone said in the Raw thread, Jericho only issued the challenge and nothing has been set in stone yet.

Imagine the eruption Austin will get at Mania when the glass shatters. They wouldn't waste it for Raw.

70,000 fans + TEXAS + hearing the glass for the first time in a long while = Automatic sell and chaos in Reliant Stadium.
