A fourth installment of the horror franchise has been announced and will start filming early this year. The press release described the film as "re-starting the Scream franchise," which has been regarded as indication of a new cast and the concept of further films to be produced in the future. Jamie Kennedy has since told iFMagazine that he may reprise his role as Randy Meeks in the fourth film, despite his character having previously been killed off in the second film of the trilogy. He also claimed that the rest of the cast would be a mixture of new characters with "old faces that you wouldn’t believe", and that the film will only go ahead with the involvement of director Wes Craven. In another interview, Kennedy stated that Bob Weinstein wants everyone to return, saying "Bob wants us all to return for another film.. I don't know how I'd return, but he wants me back." Kevin Williamson, writer of the original Scream, is writing the first draft of Scream 4. Plot details are been kept tightly under wraps just as with Scream 3. Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox Arquette, (along with Jamie Kennedy) are scheduled to reprise there roles in Scream 4.

Meh. Another show of Hollywood's continuing unoriginality.

Just was not scary at all, to me. Just some guy clumsily running around with a knife, is not scary.

Swift kick in the nuts. End of movie. That's how that would play out in real life.

New decade. New rules.

Plot: Ten years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer.

Hayden Panettiere is in it.

I think you're taking it a bit too seriously. I could be in the minority but I've never seen Scream as a horror/scary film, more a 'slasher comedy' or something. It hardly takes itself very serious.

It's not really scary, as much as it is entertaining. I enjoy the first Scream a lot. The first movie is a thriller/comedy. Sure, the killer isn't that intimidating but I don't think real life killers and creeps are all Jason and Michael Myers.
There's something disturbingly realistic about the killer, until the sequels where it became a bit of a joke.

Scream 1 was ok, but Scary Movie 1 was much better. When a spoof is more entertaining, there is something seriously wrong with a franchise.

You know what else wasn't scary?

The Harold and Kumar movies.

As long as we're being retarded about things.

Ok so IF they reprise Jaime Kennedy's character, then it's obvious he's the killer. :shifty:

Funny thing is Scream is a pastiche of the classic slasher films (Halloween, Friday The 13th, etc). Scary Movie is then a parody of Scream (and I Know What You Did Last Summer amongst others).

Surely you can't really draw a direct comparison between the two? Your enjoyment of Scary Movie is surely based on the fact that you found it funny, it's like comparing great comedy with great drama - whilst they can both get a 10/10 they're getting them for different reasons.

More so, comparing a parody with the original always seems unfair to me. One, by definition, is designed to undermine the other.

That 'film' nearly made my eyes bleed. I'd take Scream 3 on repeat over that again.

If she gets killed I hope it's by breaking the Never Have Sex rule of horror movies. :D
