She's legit action, though. Most of the cast are.

I know she's a legit action star. I just find it hilarious that she's playing a slutty ass ninja whose tits fall out every 5 seconds.

So is this the 94-97 saga, or the 99- ? saga? From what they are saying, I think it's the latter, but to be perfectly honest I have never followed the storyline (probably because 98 was my fave and that was a Dream Match type dealie)

Just Czeched it out. The Orochi saga is 95-97 (94 was not included) and thats what the film is based on.

Yeah I heard or read nothing about the bros. Or Art of Fighting characters for that matter. I would have made FF and AoF first and then lead into KoF. I wrote about ideas in detail in another forum.

Still, I'm interested. And I'm loving the adaptation fever going on.

For one I wouldn't have expected a movie based on the 'other' 2D fighting game series. Secondly, although you're right that all adaptation productions preach source material and such, I see with my eyes that they aren't taking the project dead seriously (just look at Vice and Mature). It looks like a fun production. And I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm generally interested in stuff like this. Kinda common knowledge, really. With Terry and Ryo confirmed, I'm interested with how they're directing it now. Chi attacks or none, realistic fights or wire-fu, I want to know.

I like movies and I like games, doesn't take much to get me excited about a new player. But that doesn't mean I'm down for missteps like Legend of Chun-Li - which was a directorial and production failure.

I agree with what your saying and the Resident Evil movies are a guilty pleasure of mine. So I am not saying I hate every videogame movie and I did enjoy Hitman, I knew the new Street Fighter was going to be terrible I just wish Hollywood coukld get something right. I really did enjoy Resident Evil Degeneration they did something right for once on that....

The 'they' you refer to are the actual game company guys, which says a lot. I mean Hollywood with all their resources ran RE into the ground with the last one, while Capcom themselves release the best RE movie ever. But that goes into the pros/cons of live action vs CGI and let's not open that box.

I also find it ironic that Paul Andersuck made the first RE and Mortal Kombat, major credits to videogame movies. While Eww Bowl gets to make a bunch of rapefests due to some German tax loophole, and he never came close to justifying his director chair (though I hear Postal was above suckage).

I know armchair analysis can get annoying but I feel at times that it's not really that hard... Or perhaps it is. I just wanna sit down some of the biggest failures at these things and grill 'em on certain matters. Is there anything like that? Like how the press grills certain guest of things like politics and such? There should be someone out there to hold directors and producers accountable for releasing feature length suck.

What. The fuck. Is so hard about writing this shit? I do not understand shit like this. Studios think they're clever getting guys who don't know the source material to write it (worked with GI Joe Resolute, Mortal Kombat), but most of the time you get shit like this and Legend of Chun-Li. I wonder if it was a writer or studio thing... In any case, I feel sorry for them.

I should just write adaptations for these things and at least try to get them out there.

Videogame movies have been pretty shit up and down. Huge joke. But that's well known.
I suspect something will eventually come along that will be very good though, and then Hollywood will jump all over video games and start making a ton of high budget adaptations with much more talented directors and actors.
Pretty much the same thing that happened with comic book movies.

Funky Fly
09-08-2010, 01:42 AM
I'll Concede Mortal Kombat because it's that same kind of so-shitty-it's-good ridiculousness that 90s Street Fighter movie is. So I guess Street Fighter in that sense too.

I hated all of those other films tho. Fighting game adaptations are best done as comics and anime.
