I've been thinkin about this while watching the crappy main event storylines there have going on right now, and I was thinkng dose Goldust have enough left to be pushed into main event status. If you remember when Goldust was a heel, he called out the Undertaker and challenged him to a casket match. When he became demented after the "Preacher" gimmick was dropped he went after Kane. I remember when he came back after being assulted by Evolution, he had that studder gimmick but when he first came back he was using the darker personality but they dropped it to make the studder gimmick a joke instead. In all actuality he will probibly be "wished well in his future endevours" but could you see him maybe going back to his tweener quazi sexual moans, grunts, and grinds and going after both Tripple H and Orton for what they did to his brother Cody? Could he become ECW champ, maybe torment Swagger with his old "Golden" ways? What do you think?

Not now. Not with the PG rating, not with his age, not with the younger audience who may not remember most of his glory days. Out of all the "characters" they have had (Boogeyman, Karney, Festus) Goldust should, by all rights, be the most over, but he is just used so infrequently and usually it's to put somebody else over. But no, I doubt a Goldust ECW title win is even in the cards.

I think it could be done, but it would have to be done right. I honestly think the best opponent for a fued like this would be Cena. They could slowly build up Cena (as the top star) having a stalker, and have it get progressively creepier until a match is called for. After that, I don't think he has much potential.
I just think he has one last main event program in him, but it has to be against a face who is a big enough deal for him to stalk.

Or maybe they could put him in a strange relationship with Vickie?

I dunno. The PG rating limits a lot of the untapped potential here though.

........They make it so that Vickie is cheating on both Edge and Big Show with Goldust.... I like it :shifty:

I think it's safe to say Goldust is one of the many under-utilized talents they had back in the day. Pushing Goldust over someone like Mideon, Viscera, or Bossman would have been better in the long term.

Goldust was awesome back in the early days. Another great character that had an enormous amount of lairs to it. Sure, they could make it work or a smilar character work, but I forsee it becoming yet another comedy act after 2 months. Failure

I've said before that they should make a long lengthy Goldust(basically acting as Dustin Rhodes but dressed as Goldust) and Cody Rhodes fued. All sorts of old fans can get with Goldust just because he's who he is, and the obvious reasons for the fued give him some ample pull with newer fans. Cody goes over eventually, it's one of his first real victories and a message that he's here to stay. Dustin actually accomplishes something.

1996 Goldust was excellent. His feud with Razor Ramon was excellent. The mind games, the tattoo of "Razor" on a heart on his chest, the title win at the Royal Rumble. And just when you had him figured out, he "kissed" Marlena. Awesome.

They should do a Goldust vs. JBL feud.

As the guy who was tpww.net's Goldust mark, the answer is simple.....

No.
There is no way the Goldust persona could do it. Dustin could do it, but I'm not a fan of Dustin. Turn CAWdy face, then have Dustin ditch the Goldust gimmick, have Dustin team up with Orton, and do more whimsical armchair booking that only works in BullshitWorld. Something dealing with Dustin kicking his dad's ass, and pissing on a face CAWdy.

That wouldn't work at this point. Dustin went over the hill long ago.

Seven years ago I could see it. Not now.

I love Goldust, and think the character, in its day, was quite brilliant. I cannot praise the character enough, but if they wanted to push Goldust to the main event, they have had ample opportunity to, and they haven't.

The best Goldust can hope for his a decent feud with his younger brother. And maybe Dustin could pass the character onto a young worker who can play the gimmick well, and it might get treated better then.

Yeah, I think Goldust can be a legacy character.
