Yeah, so lately I've gotten tired of John Cena as a face. Cena became my favorite superstar when he started to rap on and challenge Brock Lesnar a little over a year ago. I liked the guy's character so much back then, yes, even more then Orton. I taped all of his segmets every week and couldn't wait for his music to hit on TV. I remember posting a number of topics about how he was the greatest a few month ago. Cena didn't care about anyone back then, just himself. His raps were delievered with intensity and aggression. He cursed, he threw up the "Untouchable" sign, which he now refers to as throwing up "The W" It was a U back then. He got right in your face and even if he knew he would get his ass whooped, he didn't back down. And most of all he gave no respect to anyone in the WWE, fans included. One of my favorite lines by Cena to the fans was "Oh, you think I suck? Well Fu** you, cause I don't give a Fu**." What happened to that stuff. Those lines were classic. I mean, I know he can't say that to the fans, but at least say stuff like that to management and the wrestlers.

Anyway, I rambling on here, I wanted everyone to list their favorite Heel Cena moment.

Okay, mine was when Eddie Guerrero came out with his newely won U.S. title in front of his hometown crowd in El Paso. During Eddie's speech, Cena's music hit and the crowd let out a roar of boo's immediately. Cena came out with the UMass Throwback and looked like a real hardass asshole. Cena gets in the ring and delievers my all-time favorite rap on Guerrero and the fans. They had to blur out the bottom of the screen because most of the front row fans were giving Cena the finger. HAHA. Anyway, it was a classic moment and got Cena a ton of heat. Later on, we would see Cena steal Eddie's lowrider after a match for the title. Great Stuff.

So what's you're favorite Heel Cena Moment?

i liked when he showed up later with one of the wheels to eddies little rice car.
CENA: " i lie, i cheat, i steal, too. the difference between me and you is i can get away with it!"

unfortunately wwe ejaculated prematurely with john cena.

I dunno.... Cena is pretty much a self-made man. Don't forget that we all thought that the rap gimmick was going to bury him. I was never really a fan of the raps myself (I thought it was pretty corny from day one), so I'm still pretty impressed to see how far they've gone. I think Cena himself knows that the gimmick's played out though, so I think he'll probably be pushing for a gimmick change before the year's out.

Well, I liked when he rapped on UT, and said he was a necropheliac.
and His rap at WMXIX was great too.

I think that part of Cena's problem is that the WWE is frocing him to tone down because of the FCC cracking down on indecency and stuff like that. If Cena was allowed to say whatever he wanted then he could cause a TON of controversy and would get alot of attention. He's on Smackdown, so why not let him start dropping F-Bombs and bleeping them out? Cena would be over huge if he was allowed to say whatever he wanted.

His rap dissing Dupree was terrible imo. He looks like a try hard when he's a face. His heel raps where way better

Cena is really good and will be the next Rock/Austin no doubt about it.

The only thing that bothers me is those stupid dances he does on his way to the ring. I liked it better when he just threw up the double horns and showed the crowed his steel chain while he walked to the ring.

Yeah, that's another thing that annoys me. He looks like a complete asshole when he does that football kind of dance when he comes out.

I liked the part where he was dissing Brock.

I forget most of it

But he was saying that F-5 stood for Fe, Fi, Fo, Fum, and he was impersonating Brock and said "Oops I forgot the fifth f word my brain went numb" And also the one where he's talking about Brock mastering Atari while he is rockin Playstation or somethin like that. I believed he was more controversial as a heel. I kinda liked him better as a heel. But, I still like him as a face. One of my faves on Smackdown.

Its hard for guys who are turned by the fans instead of being turned by the booking.

I think it could be that the WWE sees that the fans are cheering for him, so they tell him to play it up. Its a tough line to walk. If you play the badass babyfaces a certain portion of the audience will like you for that. But in order to become a true mainstream babyface you have to do some playing to the crowd.

Both Austin and Rock went through this. I thought both guys had a better edge to them when they were heels, but then they turned and had to play to the fans. In both cases it kinda changed their personas and made them less cool to a certain portion of the audience. But at the same time, it also made them more popular with the masses and they sold more tix, merch, and PPVs. Like I said, its tough, you cant please all the people all the time.

I would also agree that the FCC stuff is hurting his gimmick. Which could actually be used to sell tix to house shows, but I doubt they'd be willing to put in the effort necessary to make that work.

Sadly as it may be, I think Cena's going to ahve to lsoe the rhymes if he's going to eb a legitimate world championship contender. Unless he can literally rhyme on the spot during a confrontation, aslthough that wouldn't make all that much sense. I do think he could carry a great promo without havinbg to rhyme anyway.

he shouldn't rhyme everytime he comes out, it should be a special deal. I think he should start to just insult people without rhyming. Just be a badass shit talker, but who doesn't have to make everything rhyme all the time. However, he shouldn't change his look and the way he carries himself, thats the way kids look and act these days, so he should maintain that part of his gimmick.

No way, his rhymes are his gimmick and are what got him so over with the fans to begin with. John Cena without the raps is like Austin without beer or Rock without his numerous catchphrases.

He needs to get his ass kicked.

I don't mean that the way it sounds.

With the right opponent, John Cena won't need to change his raps at all to get over. The problem with him feuding with the Big Show was that the Show is basically a joke and most people felt that the WM win for Cena was a given. Cena, as the champ, needs a feud with someone who can be considered a legitimate threat. A feud with a monster heel is the next step for Cena to be considered a legit main eventer.

For example, if the Undertaker chokeslammed him one week, sent him off in an ambulance, and the next week Cena came back and cut a promo w/o rapping just to show how serious he was...that would be intense.

It;'s just an example to show that the only thing Cena needs to take him to the next level as a face is a decent opponent.

the rap where he said something was as dead as john ritter. it got edited out of the tv broadcast but i think that symbolized the heel cena. then again, that was before the superbowl and janet jacksons tit. now the fcc is nuts.
