View Full Version : So apparently,
I am not at all interested for the Draft next week. The only reason I loved the Draft was because you could see superstars from the other brands perform on Raw. But now having so many inter-promotional matches on a regular basis has made the whole brand split thing lose it's charm & purpose.
It's high time the WWE did something decisive, that is either end the brand exclusive shit or make all the superstars brand exclusive. Now that would be cool. Share your thoughts...:)
They always mix the brands the weeks prior to WM and a few weeks after.

Don't tell me that you don't care about the brand split.

The whole purpose of the brand split was to get more talent over and on TV, and it has succeeded and will continue to succeed. Just because main eventers and the occasional midcarder appears on another brand doesn't mean that the brand split is pointless and we shouldn't be forced to watch such stupidity and injustice.
So it's ok to let the main eventers and occasional mid carders from the other show take up the spot meant for the other developing wrestlers on the show?

Yes, the roster is not as large as it was initially after the WCW buyout.
Aren't guys like Benjamin, Morrison, Swagger & Sydal going unnoticed? They need to get them into storylines and build them up.
maybe i would start watching again if they ended the brand split

All those guys are on TV every week for the most part. Like I said, they always mix the brands the weeks prior to WM and a few weeks after.

Amen. Though I hope they do freeze the rosters up a bit more after this draft.

I'm excited about the draft because I'll be in the house MOFOS!!!!! Look for the TPWW Sign that I will force by security! I'm against the hard camera, on the floor!!!
Other than that, I get to see MVP again up IRL. He was great in DSW. So was Kofi. I think the brand split was decent, and I think that it has helped established some really good new talent. We wouldn't be talking about new stars getting their crack at the ME if we didn't have the split. We'd have 6 hours of Cena/HHH/Orton/Michaels/Taker every week.

Isnt that what it is every week though?

Hmm, I wouldn't say so. The only two people that bombard every show is The In Crowd. Other than that, Cena didn't start popping up until Edge won at NWO. Taker didn't start showing up on Raw until the WM hype. They've been pretty decent with the way they've booked Mania, but I can see the brand split's benefits outside of this 'Mania Booking'
EDIT: I don't know if I mentioned, but I actually like the idea of Miz/Morrison on every show. Now as unified champs, the Colon's should take up this mantle. See that tag division thread for further detail.

no, I see where you are coming from. It's got a lot better over the last couple years with all the Interpromotional stuff. I don't mind though because I only watch Raw anyway. I don't know how you guys can sit through 3 and now 4 wrestling programs a week.
The good thing is, Raw will sometimes due a recap of what's going on on Smackdown on ECW, so I can pretty much catch the shows on Raw in like 5 minutes.

Sometimes it does make sense to blur the draft lines. I mean, the extra hype for the interpromotional matches at WrestleMania makes sense. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that there were only two matches at WrestleMania that were confined to the brand split (JBL/Rey and Matt/Jeff). I guess you could count Jericho vs. The Legends as RAW stuff, but The Legends seem to be in a class of their own.
For a draft to mean something, I agree that it should lead to the rosters being more solidified. I think that's the route they should have gone with WrestleMania -- the PPV would close chapters like Cena vs. Edge vs. Show and Orton vs. Triple H unless the draft opened them up again. Alas, that was not to be, but we'll see how it goes.
I'm still thinking that we may get John Cena and Triple H swapping brands, anyway, which could be good. Things do settle down, and even if they don't, what the draft still does is lead to new direction for talent. John Morrison moving to RAW and Kofi Kingston moving to SmackDown!, for example, are moves that might not shake the world, but would at least give each guy a new lease.

I like the draft because we see people we wouldn't normally see. However they need to limit the guys who can go on both shows. Limit it to the Tag Team Champions just because there are very few teams around.
Using the weeks before and after Mania to have interpromotional matches help begin storylines after the draft if certain wrestlers change shows.

Are you fucking fingering yourself!? It has not worked at all. Are you telling me you take a skinny ass kofi as a potential main eventer when my penis can knock him out? Shit, WWE is not putting the right guys over. WTF happened with Shelton Benjamin, all of a sudden just because his mic skills suck he's not a good wrestler? Ever heard of a manager McMahon? This also happened with shelton's former partner Charlie Haas, he's a pretty descent worker yet he's jobbed. And about main eventers and midcarders appearing on other shows occasionaly, James Steele, that's exactly why it is pointless. It loses hype on the draft because everyone already saw the feud that was going to happen afterwards.

Maybe because the post in question is from nine months ago and - by WWE logic - never actually happened.
