View Full Version : Restricted move set
A lot of guys like Chavo, Christian, Edge etc. are using a restricted move set after they came into the lime light.
WHY?

Because WWE favors a safe (ultra safe/conservative) style.
Edge is obvious they cant risk getting their top star hurt.

Because they realized that they didn't need to break their bodies in half to get the same pay check, and since WWE is no longer highlighting the daredevil or fast pased style, it's easier for them to do their job and be safe while earning more money.
But they put their bodies on the line...yes it's entertainment but what entertains you tares their bodies apart. (I always have a flashback of Holly)

To be completely honest, I'm fine with guys taking it down a notch at house shows and on TV matches, and only breaking out the "restricted" stuff in big PPV matches.

funny cause I can't remember an era where more WWE wrestlers get injured.

Sure you can. Austin, Undertaker and HHH all had injury time back in the attitude era. Of course we all know about Shawn.
This continued through the years with just about everyone going down for some period of time at one point. Often times there were multiple big names out at the same time.
There have always been lots of injuries. The difference is, there are more "main event" stars now. In today's climate, there are nearly a dozen main event level guys on the roster. Therefore, it seems like more are going down, since in the old days there were only a handful around a time. Still, they were getting injured from time to time.
The midcarders got injured at about the same rate too.
The difference is there is a larger roster, and more noteable names on it, so it seems worse.

It seems like the main event stars are injured for long ass periods of time every year.

I know that's what I was talking about. I think that's always been the case. In any given year, top guys are out.
What's the difference if 2 or 3 main event stars are out in this day in age, than when 1 or 2 were back in the day?
My point is the roster is much larger, and more stars are on television due to brand extension. There are also far more main eventers so the probability of one or more of them being injured is much higher, even though they're not neccessarily getting hurt at a higher rate.
I also think they use the oppurtunity to shelf stars they don't have any use for. Edge had time off from Summerslam to Survivor Series in 08 but it had nothing to do with injury, just storylines.
With the amount of talent they have, I don't think they're as anxious to get guys back fast, or as apprehensive about giving them time off. A lot of the injuries wrestlers get time off for now would probably be worked through in a different time. They can afford it now.

I think drug abuse had something to do with it to, didn't Micheals tell hardy he's going to be crippled like him in a few years (when Michaels was still "retired")
I'm pretty sure it happened when Vince got his monopoly (buying wcw).....
