View Full Version : John Cena's next feud (Draft Spoilers I guess)

I'm going to assume, the WWE will continue Big Show/Cena for the next month or so.
But I would love to see Matt Hardy work a program with John Cena. It will be a quick feud that will sort of test the waters with Hardy carrying his own weight in the main event. I think the WWE should give him a chance and see what he could do. Obviously, this feud will take a back seat to the HHH/Batista/Orton feuds and would happen after Matt's run with Jeff.
Like I mentioned in another thread last week, I am always a fan of these World Title feuds where the heel or babyface is not on the same level as the Champ, but is given a chance to show the audience what they got.
What do you think? Yay or Nay in elevating Matt Hardy into a World Title Program?

Actually... That might make me interested in Cena.

Yay, he has two consecutive victories over a recent WWE Champ and deserves a title shot.

I'd like to see Matt Hardy work a fued with Cena.
I still don't think HHH, Cena, Batista, and Orton will all stay on the same brand. Somehow, one of them's gonna move this summer.

nay...... don't care for either of them..... wouldn't be overly excited..... but elevating a new wrestler into the title picture may help freshen things up...... come to think of it... I wouldn't mind it....

I wouldn't mind seeing Matt get a title shot, I think it is a few years too late, but it is still deserved

Since, you know, Raw is not going to have a two World Titles forever, and Edge wins at Backlash, I do wonder how a Cena feud with anyone is going to work without a title. Maybe Matt screws Cena at Backlash and they have a series of matches?

If Matt Hardy is in the main event, then I'm happy with it. :y:

I think Matt could do with a haircut. And I hate his old man legs. But I like the way the new look is going, and I think he could add a great deal as the new up-coming main-eventer on Raw.

The WWE is obviously pretty high on Matt Hardy right now. They chose to put him over his more popular, merchandise moving brother at WrestleMania. Matt would have been my choice, too, but I could so see that match ending in a Swanton Bomb.
Matt then also gets a win over Jeff Hardy in a Stretcher Match, and then gets moved to RAW, away from his brother. He also gets to go over CM Punk, who is going to be a World Champion by the year's end (well, most likely), and got to face The Undertaker at Superstars and didn't get pinned.
Matt's slowly evolving this character. At first it seemed like it was meant to be a serious character, but apparently he mocked CM Punk's ring entrance. He's realising that Randy Orton and Chris Jericho have the market cornered on the no-personality bad guys. Matt's just gone completely sideways and started acting like a seflish cunt. Putting on tights was a big visual change for him, and if he does cut his hair, then it will prolong the freshness of his changes.
Matt's proving more and more to me that he'd make a fantastic road agent when he retires from active competition. The dude just has a fantastic understanding of the business, and how to build a character. He'll be feuding with someone big very soon, and it really depends on which title they move to SmackDown!, but I can imagine Matt and Cena feuding quite easily. Especially if the main program is going to be the Evolution war.
Just another suggestion: With Shawn Michaels not really having too much to do, at the moment, how would a Shawn Michaels vs. Matt Hardy feud go with you? Sort of leaves John Cena to not do much of anything, though.

They are high on him right now and I am happy they finally see the potential, but where were they when he was the most popular guy on Smackdown 3 years ago. I mean I am happy he is getting his push finally, but I think it is a few years too late.

Well, technically he shouldn't have been on SmackDown! three years ago. Three years ago he should have been a bad-ass face on RAW like circumstances had made him. But of course he returned, thanked Vince, and got his ass kicked at Summerslam.

After John Cena ripping on Jack Swagger for calling himself "The All-American American," and mocking repetition in general, I could very easily see John Cena vs. a heel Mr. Kennedy. :shifty:

If he ever comes back, it would be sweet.

Well, Mr. Kennedy was just drafted to RAW. It's also more likely that the World Heavyweight Title will go to SmackDown! instead of the WWE Title...so that leaves Cena without a title feud...

Personally, I thought John Cena mocking repetition spoke for itself. ;)

I'm all for it, provided that Matt Hardy beats credible opponents before getting elevated (i.e. Shawn Michaels, Ken Kennedy, and then one of HHH or Batista).
It would be astronomically stupid of the WWE to just have him face John Cena a month from now (without garnering any credible victories) and then having him beat Cena for the title. This doesn't make Matt Hardy look good.....it just makes the WWE and Cena look retarded (just as it did in 2004 when JBL won his 1st world title over Guerrero.....and being a tag team jobber only 3 months earlier).

Ken Kennedy? LOL come on
For someone of Matt Hardy's stature (i.e. mid-card) a convincing victory over a face Ken Kennedy (another mid-carder) would add to Matt's credibility in my opinion (this of course, is based on the presumption that the WWE would be pushing Matt Hardy).
Of course - before Kennedy would do the JOB to Matt, I'd have Kennedy beat someone credible himself to make HIMSELF look like he still has credibility.

He already has established his uppermidcard level with convincing wins in the mid-card for the past 2 years.
He's coming fresh off of a program with Jeff Hardy in which he has beaten him convincingly, twice.
He beat CM Punk clean this past monday, and his most recent match was a non-squash in which he battled the Undertaker for a good amount of time before a no contest.
Even being in a program with Kennedy would be a step back at this point. I agree that he shouldn't be thrust into a program with Cena, unless of course he was going to go over.
I also agree that he needs convincing wins over guys on the level of SOME of the names you listed.
The midcard, and Ken Kennedy, however, is not where they should be.

I'd like to see it. I agree with Gold Standard in that it's a little late for Matt, but it is deserved. Facing the "company guy" is a good way for Matt to elevate himself.
And although I do like Matt's new ring attire, I think a haircut needs to come next. Then maybe some sit ups.

Oh ok - I wasn't aware of that info. since I don't watch Smackdown. I didn't realize that he'd beaten Jeff cleanly (twice) and beaten Punk. In that case - I agree. A feud with Kennedy would be a step back.
However - I think a clean victory over HBK some time this year would be gold at this point (before moving on to Cena).

Well with Matt going to Raw you have many great feud possibilities, I too think Cena would be a great feud for Matt, I feel like they would have some good matches and good angles. Of course HBK could give Matt the match of his career and I'm sure that will happen eventually. Also however, I could see a Batista/Matt feud as well, that might work for a month or two. I agree with most of you guys who have said that Matt will get a push to the top, he deserves it and is consistant throughout his carrer. Honestly Matt can't really be the top guy on Raw or Smackdown even, but he's one of those potential greats that never gets the big title. Also a side note, Matt Hardy is just now getting to his prime, I don't agree that his better days are behind him.
