I haven't seen anything mentioned in other threads, so please let me know if this has been discussed.

Personally I think he's going to be pushed big over the next 12 months, which is great as I'm a bit of a fan. The only drama I see is the possibilty of Edge winning against Cena at Backlash in their LMS match then having Punk cash in straight away.

While it would be good to see them belt on him again, especially with the next PPV being in Chicago, I don't really want to see a repeat of his World Title run last year.

Your thoughts?

I know the guy has talent, but it's hard to be talented in a company where they only let you have a moveset of 10 moves.
Still, I enjoy seeing him on TV a hell of a lot more than Batista, Cena, Orton, HHH, Undertaker.

I see nothing wrong with him cashing it in in Chicago, infact, that would be awesome, I didn't realize this, but the sheer thought of it makes me want to watch the PPV now

Him cashing in the case in his home town will generate a massive pop. It could be great. If he is to cash it in during the LMS Match, Then I would want to see him just walk in during one of the spots where both stars hit the finisher, and are laying still. Punk Music hits, he hands the case to the ref and says he's injecting himself into this match. He GTS's Cena, Edge and gains the 10 count. That could be gold.

Since Punk has more buildup than he did last year, I expect him to cash it in either at something big like Summerslam or another 3 hour Raw and feud with Edge or Jericho for the title.

Punk's hinted that he will give the champ a warning this time ahead (ala RVD) that he will cash in at Judgment Day. Punk vs. Edge 4tw

Is Backlash really in Chicago? If so, I definitely say that the chances increase that he'll cash it in. People say that it would be rushing Punk, but what do you really want from the man? When he last won MITB, he had just dropped the ECW Title to Chavo Guerrero. Since then, he has been World Heavyweight Champion, Intercontinental Champion and World Tag Team Champion. He's a lot more than a guy from ECW.

Especially if he cashed it in against John Cena. I'm not sure how Chicago now feels about John Cena, but Cena the WWE should occasionally play off the way fans shit on him. Cena retaining in the Last Man Standing Match, only for CM Punk to come out with a smug look on his face, would be priceless.

It comes with built-in feuds, too. Punk vs. Cena on Superstars, using that inevitable rematch clause that Cena has, where Punk goes over and looks like a million bucks, and Edge being more than a little envious that Punk took his thunder and brought a World Title home for SmackDown!.

exactly what build up? a mediocre IC run, dropping the title in a squash and being the WTF winner of MITB?

He needs to shock and awe. I would love to see him surprise the crowd and be the babyface champ for three weeks.

What really let Punk down last time was the booking while he was World Heavyweight Champion. He pretty much had Rey Mysterio syndrome. What the company needs to do is say "Okay, so we want this guy to be Champion," which they obviously do, "Let's book him like he's the top guy."

MITB is a great way to move the title onto a guy. Punk beat seven of the WWE's top stars to earn that title shot. He's earned the right to call himself a champion. Just make sure that when you put the belt on him, he actually looks like a champion.

i'd rather see punk actually chase a title than cash in and win it. as much as i love the guy, i think they can find a way to have him cash in, lose in a way that he still looks good (dq or something), and continue to chase. winning it "out of nowhere" again seems like a bad strategy. if everyone who wins MITB cashes in and wins what sort of suspense is there in that?

I want Punk to cash it in and be the first person to lose. He gets pissed, turns heel, and he becomes a thousand times more interesting.

yeah heel punk will always be the best punk but i think he's still got quite a bit of gas left in his face run. just give him the mic, dammit.

I think she was getting at the fact Judgment Day is in Chicago. I don't know. :-\

In that case, hold it off to Judgment Day.

After RAW, I'm still thinking that the WWE might be considering a Punk heel turn. Jeff Hardy cost Punk the match against his brother. Where is that stoner's brand loyalty, man?

I don't care for CM Pepsi and his little briefcase; I hope he tries to cash it in in Chicago and gets smoked like a joint. (Ya know, cuz he's straight edge).

T.Long: Put down the Punk and I'll give ya Funyuns and Cheetos.
Other superstar: Really?!

How is Punk going to go over John Cena in the rematch if he had to use the briefcase after Cena was worn down after a Last Man Standing match? I don't think that the WWE should hide from Punk's terrible reign. If he's going to stay a face, Punk should admit that he won because of a fluke, and proved it by not being able to retain. Then having him challenge the champion to a legit match and win that way would do a lot more in making him look like a contender than just hot shotting the title over him by pinning an already beaten Cena.

If I had my druthers, I wouldn't even put the title on him. He's fine where he is. He's been in the company three years now, maybe? He's still plenty young and has lots of places to go. I think he should be competing in the main event on occasion, but I don't think he should be the champion right now.

I have a feeling Punk is going to be the first to lose the MITB shot.

Except nothing interesting happens and instead is used to push a new champion up a level.

I think Edge wins at Backlash, only to have Punk cash in and win immediately. That would mean The Ultimate Opportunist got "opportuned" by the same guy twice in as many tries. That feud just SCREAMS $$$ to me.
