If he and Ryu use the same style shouldn't he have some too?

He's not, my bad. I meant that Namco x Capcom RPG that only came out in Japan.

Thinking about it, there was even a Dark Sakura in MSH Vs Street Fighter so the only Shoto who hasn't turned to the dark side is Gouken, but he's probably got it under control and was sleeping on a rock for many years.

Oh, and Sean, I guess.

Are those canon though?

#BROKEN Hasney

Evil Ryu isn't even canon. He's a "what-if" if he gave into his power. There's three canon endings to Alpha 2 revolving around the shoto characters, Ken beating Ryu and him claiming Ryu wasn't "in it" and gives him his red headband, Ryu's ending where he faces Akuma who shows him his inner power and Bisons try to control Ryu's mind and unlocking that power.

Ryu only gives in to Satsui no Hadou once, for a split second against Sagat.

Ah I see.

They should def make Evil Dan seein as how the the very reason Gouken expelled him is to prevent that (since his motives were vengeance).

lol Satsui No Hado Dan

In Street Fighter IV though there is a storylin with Ryu fighting his inner evilness. Ken never has that problem.

lol, googled Evil Dan and someone made a MUGEN character for him

Yeah, because Ken has never had a lengthy fight with Akuma (or maybe never has?) and was never brainwashed by Bison.

Or Ryu's just emo. OH NOES MY MASTER IS DEAD SO EVEN KEN CAN BEAT ME :'( :'( :'(

Man the fuck up, Ryu.

:naughty:

To begin, Super V fuck you. Just cause.

Now Ryu deals with the Dark Hadou for one of three reasons:

1) He wants to win really badly, letting the killing intent envelop him for the added power and chance for victory. This was evident in Street Fighter, where Ryu first turned "Dark" Ryu (not "Evil") to defeat Sagat. Sagat's scar is the result of Ryu's dark self taking over for a bit.

2) The Dark Hadou is some dark infection that moves among practitioners of the Shoto fighting style. Akuma let it take him as he dove into the original use of the art - to kill. Ryu practices the safe version along with Ken. Of the two, Ryu is closer to the original form, with Ken pimping it out to be flashy. Practicing the art closer to it's original form may make him susceptible to the Dark Hadou influence. This is evident in Ryu spending time during the Alpha era trying to unlearn it and suppress it.

3) Akuma may be Ryu's father, and the shit passed down. Genetics are a bitch.

Now being that Ken fights for fame and showing off, he doesn't have Ryu's philosophical reasons for fighting. Ken fights with great skill and technique, but not his soul. This makes him null to the effects of the Dark Hadou if number two is correct. Obvious if number three is the case, there's no way for Ken to go Dark.

Now the thing about Violent Ken is this concept is in line with the first reason, that he may be sick of being second to Ryu and he let the killing intent take over. But the game he featured in was a dream match, and several factors mar this idea.

1) Violent Ken was in part based on the Dark Ken in the Street Fighter 2 anime. This would mean his dark variation was due to Bison's handing.

2) The SNK universe also has a malevolent force that corrupts fighters, called the Riot of the Blood. It only infects those of the Orochi descent, but Akuma and Rugal use it in CvS2, so this isn't a hard rule. It could be that Ken was under the influence of the Riot of the Blood (his animations make it seem so, those under RotB seem 'desperate' in their attacks).

So if Ken were to go dark, it wouldn't be the Dark Hadou, but some form of outside manipulation. Ryu has internal issues that make it so.

Even still, Dark Ken needs to come around fo another game.

Violent Ken should be unlockable in SF4 for enduring 7,000 fights on Live with other Ken users.

Either that or Mech-Akuma :(

The real question is this: we've seen Ryu and Ken. Where's Sho?

Cuz... y'know. Shoryuken. Sho - Ryu - Ken.

Shut the fuck up.

Actually I'd run with that.

Also, the Soul/Psycho Power plot between Rose and Bison should have more characters. I riffed two fanfic rivals that use Soul Power and Psycho Power respectively. I think it's an area that's largely unexplored in the mythology.

If I recall correctly from ending videos, he isn't born yet as of SFIV.

Though I remember making jokes about him hurricane kicking his way out of his mother's womb.

Ya know what?

Rival Schools 3 should be Mel's big intro. He could appear as the annoying kid fighter with quick moves and a scrappy personality.
