So does that mean that at No Mercy 2007 when he took the WWE title away from him in a last man standing match it meant nothing to him?

This happened when? What's 2007? I can only remember 2009.

and Kane tagged with Matt on Smackdown last week. Isn't he supposed to hate his guts and stuff?

in the WWE, memory is a bitch

There is a difference between Kane tagging Matt in a match and Orton either forgetting, totally omitting, or disregarding the past in a important promo. Ultimately no one will give a damn, but it would have been smarter for him to say something like "Back in blah blah blah when I beat him it was for glory not revenge." or really anything.

NM 2007 wasn't "Orton's revenge," primarily because he didn't even know going into the night that he would be facing HHH and HHH didn't even start off the night champion. Last night was Orton's revenge because Orton didn't only beat HHH, he orchestrated a months-long scheme that saw him beat down HHH's family, end a title reign that lasted longer than it takes to cook a ham, and presumably put HHH on the shelf. Far more satisfying than just escaping a night with a title that was presented to you in the first place.

sorry, don't recall that. I recall Orton kicking HHH's fucking head in though

Silly that he didn't take revenge when he could have easily. Even in the Age of Orton he didn't do shit.

So knocking your opponent out so that he can't get up and taking away his title isn't enough to be called revenge? and I remember him kicking HHH's head in too: WrestleMania 24.... that wasn't revenge?, just saying... 5 years....

Well last night was the first time Orton actually pinned HHH for the title. So, I'm pretty sure that counts for something.

Yeah, this was more like Matt coming out and saying "Kane and I have been friends for the last seven years..."

But honestly, it really doesn't matter.

If we were going to raise an point about every inconsistency in WWE history, we'd have a bitch of a long thread

Vintage WWE. Maybe the new writers took over the storyline with zero wrestling knowledge and maybe they did some rough research on the whole evolution thing and didn't take much pain to gp through the 2007 rivalry.

I don't think Orton is so much gloating about being WWE Champion over Triple H, but that he actually believes he has ridded the company of The Game. We all know Triple H is going to be back, of course, but this is the first time that Orton has stood tall as WWE Champion, while Triple H has been "out indefinitely," I believe.

Also, if Orton brought up the true details of their past, then people might actually remember how fucking stale the combination of the two feuding is.

Maybe if we insert a few words about a Muslim Bomb Plot Against American Diplomacy but otherwise, nah, no-one is watching us.
