Yeah... Somerset House in London in July.
It's a sick ass venue. Imagine a gig in the Queen's back garden and you are not far off.
waiting is an issue.
So, going any gigs any time soon?

Volta put on such a great show, hope you love it.
I might go see Okkervil River on Sunday, extra might because my friends from Townsville are supporting them.
Actually those friends (The Middle East) are doing really well for themselves, they're even playing at Splendour in the Grass this year. So good. Hope big things happen for them, since they have the starting handicap of being in Townsville.

I can't believe somebody actually named a town 'Townsville'.... Amazing.
I've seen them a few times dude. Last time was *checks stub on wall* Thursday, 13th March last year. They played for a full 3 hours. So sick, not even pepto bismol could save it.
this time though, Octahedron will have been released so looking forward to hearing some of the new stuff live.
Just noticed as well that its TMV in London on the 13th, and then I got tickets for Leonard Cohen in Liverpool the next day.
Undeniably eclectic....

I saw them in June last year and they did the same thing: played for like three hours straight. No supporting acts, just 180 minutes of pure madness. It was fucking awesome. Mostly Goliath and Amputechture tracks but hey. It was still excellent.

Yeah.. same deal.
they opened with roulette dares and eventually pounded in after like 15 minutes of sick jamming at the end of that for Goliath. The only time they stopped was to complain about the distance between the stage and the crowd, and then let loads of people onto the stage, who all sat down in front of the band while they played wax (whateveritscalled) for like, 25 minutes.
So so good..

Awesome. We didn't get any Deloused but that's okay, I saw them when they played the BDO years back and played Deloused then so it's all gravy. We did get like a 20 minute long version of Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus that was fucking mind blowing, though.
Also it's a gig I went to recently and I made a thread about it, but it was so good I will plug it here too: Mogwai were legitimately incredible live. Like amazing atmosphere. They were so tight and they played such a diverse range of stuff. It was really a treat to see them live and I think that, along with the first time I saw Minus the Bear, will go down as one of my favourite gigs ever.

I have to check some more of them out. The only song I've heard of them is "L'Via L'Viaquez" on Guitar Hero World Tour and I liked it.

Going to see Manchester Orchestra on Tuesday, possibly the Prodigy in May, and Gogol Bordello in June. And Lollapalooza in August.

L'Via, while one of my favourite songs of theirs, is not really indicative of their sound.
I recommend Deloused in the Comatorium, Frances the Mute, The Bedlam in Goliath, and Amputechture. In that order.

Not the most specific of reccomendations. All the studio albums.
I listen to Deloused now, especially after Goliath and almost feel like its quite dated and rudimentary.
Still my favourite album though, and will always be in the top end of my top 10 albums of all time.

Well, I meant it more as an "if you're going to download one album, that would be how I would preference it" type thing. "Recommend" perhaps was not the right word.

I'll be honest. I saw them live once (Mars Volta), and they didn't really do it for me. It just seemed to me like they were playing the same song for 45 minutes. They had solos for every instrument on stage, and there were a lot of them. I haven't really given them another chance since. Maybe I should.
Anyway, the singer's dancing was hilarious though. That part I liked. He looked like he was tripping balls.

If you saw them pre-like 2004, he probably would have been.
He was definitely tripping at the Big Day Out when they played here.

LOL watch him. Smacking the bass drum and flipping out and shit. It starts getting hilarious around the 2 minute mark.

I think it was pre-2004, if I remember correctly. It did look like that. My brother was at the show, and he now does a spot-on impression of the singer dancing and flipping out like that.
