Just some highlights from the WWE's Annual Shareholders Meeting:
- Vince McMahon once again said that he isn't interested in going into MMA.
- Vince said that he is interested in adding a Wednesday night WWE show. He said that because there are so many networks now, overexposure isn't a concern. He also said that more WWE shows would make it easier for fans to follow the storylines.
- Vince agreed with a shareholder's request to look into creating a WWE affinity program.
- Donna Goldsmith said that WWE has major marketing plans for Summerslam.
- Goldsmith also said WWE has meetings coming up with USA Network and CNN
about marketing.
- Vince said WWE turned down Playboy's request to work together again this year due to WWE now being a PG environment.
- Vince said WWE has signed a deal with Pepsi.
- Vince said that WWE was planning to tour China but ran into issues, adding that he thinks China will be a major part of WWE's future.
- Vince said WWE may cancel its May tour of Mexico due to the swine flu, but did announce another Mexico tour for October.
- Vince blamed the drop in PPV buys on more fans getting together and watching PPVs together than ordering them individually.
- A shareholder asked if Mr. McMahon might be the one to end the Undertaker's
WrestleMania streak. Vince said it's unlikely.
- Vince said it is unlikely that he will appear in any of WWE's upcoming film projects because he has very little free time.
- Vince said that holding a WrestleMania overseas would be tough because it would have to air live in North America.

I couldn't have been the only one thinking of CM Punk when Vince talked about a deal with Pepsi.

My first thought was, "Hey, maybe they won't need to photoshop his tattoo out of every picture now."

Punk in Pepsi commercials would be great.

It's been coming since he debuted in the WWE.

It could lead to a level of mainstream recogniseability for CM Punk. Maybe not on Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock or Hulk Hogan levels, of course, but more so in comparative terms to John Cena.

Maybe on Randy Savage levels.

What does everybody think about a Wednesday night show? I know that people already feel there are too many WWE shows as it is, but something like that could be pretty cool.

The stupid thing is, if/when he gets a 6 month run with the title, most people will then declare he's been changed/watered down and is now shit.
After watching Smackdown last night, it's still obvious that Hardy is the cash cow of the show, but the reaction Punk got when he was cashing in the case was intense

Punk got promo time. His stock is definitely going up.

Well if they follow the same route of Superstars, in that there's no reason for those matches, but they can use it as a vehicle to sell storylines from the other 3 main shows and pimp the PPV's and merch, then yeah.
But this is becoming over exposure

lol. Ok, this is a bit weird. I was gonna post "PEPSI WWE RAW sponsored by..." as a quip, but just come back from Morrisons (a supermarket here) and saw PEPSI RAW in the newly launched 4 can multipack.

Maybe it's a link to launch it in the US??

But CM Punk is on SmackDown!. Looks like it will be John Cena marketing it after all.
The real question is whether John Morrison will do a Morrisons commercial. "3 cartoons of milk for only 1.99...Be Jealous!"

Clearly they're going to start throwing CM Punk cans of Pepsi every time he wins like Austin and beer

There's not much of a market for recap shows, though. It's kinda why the prior ones all failed. Remember, they used to have like five hours of this shit a week.
But I agree on the overexposure stuff. The problem they have is they've got nowhere to go financially unless they expand. So rock meets hard place.
It will be madness.
Madness? It will be SPAR....No, I can't.
