Mother 3

Ok I know most people here don't even care about the Mother series but even so I think every video game fan should play this. It was released three years ago for Gameboy Advance but only in Japan and the English fan translation was finished in like October so we can all enjoy it now. All I am going to say is that it is probably the best story ever told in a video game and that it is really, really sad. But it still has that funny quirkiness that Mother is all about. You should probably play EarthBound first and at least be familiar with Mother/EarthBound Zero because Mother 3 is the last one in the series. If you haven't played EarthBound by now though come on

Anyway you need a rom of Mother 3 which is really easy to find and then you need to download the translation patch from mother3.fobby.net and then patch the rom. then you can play it on the gameboy advance emulator. just use the visualboy emulator on the wii or something, it's a lot better than computer.

My roommate started playing Mother 3 last semester. It got me back into Earthbound (downloaded a rom) and I actually have Mother 3 now. I just need to find the time to play it.

Pretty hard to find a copy of Earthbound these days, and they're expensive. I got Mother 2 when I was in Japan though, it was like $10.

Sexytime. I loved Earthbound. I put it right up there with CT and FF6 on my fav SNES games.

I called EarthBound my favorite game until I finished Mother 3. Dunno if I can call either one my favorite now.

I loved EB's "polish" (not Polish). Like the presentation, the soundtrack, the wackiness of it all. It was such a breath of fresh air. I look forward to playing this.

I loved that too. That is what made it what it was. And little things like your enemies "becoming tame." Mother 3 has that but.. it is definitely different. I mean it's not your "four kids set out to save the world from an evil alien" story at all, it is kinda dark at times and they say "damn" and stuff. Although as soon as you start naming your characters it really feels like "Wow, Mother is really back." Must have been so amazing to have beaten EarthBound in like 1996 and then finally play this 10 years later.

It R on my Cyclo, but I dunno if I'll get to playing it any time this year, tbh. I have so many games that I want to play before it and I'm so particular about my RPGs. I gotta play them start to finish or I end up not playing them for months (or in the case of Dragon Quest 8, years) at a time. Fucking hard to get back into them at that point. :'(

Have not started. My time has been split between Luminous Arc on the DS, Smash Bros Brawl on Wii, Splosion Man, Street Fighter 4 and UFC 09 all on 360.

You should check out Splosion Man if you know a dude who has a 360, Assmani.
