View Full Version : Epic or a huge clusterfuck? You decide...

I just had this idea. I personally think it would be pretty awesome if done correctly but it could also be ridiculous and would cause TPWW to go apeshit bitch-crazy. So here it is...

It's announced that the King of the Ring Tournament winner in June will be named the #1 contender for his brand's main title. The tournament is won by CM Punk. Punk then comes out and says that he now has two garunteed title shots... and plans to use both against Edge at SummerSlam making it clear to Edge that he needs to only beat him one of those times but Edge has to sweep Punk. After thinking about it, Edge then makes it clear to Punk if Punk gets lucky and is able to pin him, he will invoke his rematch clause IMMEDIATELY after Punk takes the title from him thus leading to the most intriguing two out of three falls match of all time.

Now, how the match itself is booked is another issue and where the possibility of a clusterfuck can be discussed. My idea would be to have the first fall just be an amazing match (We know the two of them can pull it off) won by Punk. The second fall is won by Edge after some interference by his new "bodyguard" Umaga. Theodore Long comes out and sends Umaga to the back. Punk then tells Long that he wants to invoke HIS rematch clause. During match three, we get a ref bump and Chris Jericho comes out to help Edge (After starting a mini-feud with Punk), John Morrison comes out to even the sides, and after Edge gets in Morrison's face, he hits the Moonlight Drive on Edge JUST as the ref comes to and sees it, calling for the DQ on Punk. Punk then gets angry but suddenly gets a grin on his face, looks at a knocked out Edge, and then at the MITB briefcase, runs outside, grabs it, gives it to the ref who tells Long he's cashing it, hits the GTS and wins the title.

This of course leads to Edge getting his rematch the next month, and requesting that it be a TLC match which Punk accepts.

As I wrote that, I realize it clashes with everything I'm against in wrestling but I think the drama of the match would be pretty amazing. Plus a TLC rematch the next month would be as well.

Meh. Just a two out of three falls match with these two would probably suffice now that I think about it.

I guess what I really want to say is Edge and CM Punk are good at wrestling.

That is all.

Actually this could take forever...and I mean forever.

Each guy pins each other over and over, because they keep invoking thier own "rematch clauses." It would take longer than a Cena vs Hogan match.

If only this were an Adamle Original. Even though it isn't, this is still epic. Sadly, not gonna happen.

makes sense to me..... can't last more than 40 minutes on a PPV though.... and it can't be the main event for it to work...but I kinda dig it

The only reason I threw in the rematch clause was because I think it would be clever for Edge to be like "Yeah? Well I've got my own Money in the Bank. It's called a rematch clause and I'm gonna use it right then and there just like you've been trying to do with MITB, bitch."

And then Punk one ups him by using his own rematch clause. But then after the Moonlight Drive/GTS combo Edge is obviously in no condition to have another match so the next Smackdown he calls for the TLC rematch at the following PPV.

It'd be...interesting. I'd rather see it done on an episode of SmackDown! or something than at a major PPV.

I thought for sure it was going to lead to something like Punk winning King of the Ring, beating Edge for the World Heavyweight Title, and then cashing in his Money in the Bank title shot against Randy Orton later that night, and becoming World Heavyweight Champion AND WWE Champion.

You know, I had an idea a while back about having one episode of a wrestling show completely revolve around one single storyline. No other matches, no other storylines progressing, nothing else. Like a movie. Just have a match at the open of the show, some sort of conflict, the conflict deepens with some sort of drama, another match, some crazy out of the blue conflict arises, some more drama, and finally one last match with a big climactic ending to finish it off. Just stretch it out over a two hour show with a ton of ups and downs and twists and turns like one big wrestling show/movie. It would be perfect for this Edge/Punk concept too.

It would take some damn good writing but I would LOVE to see something like that happen. Maybe one day when I have some stroke in the wrestling biz...

They sort of did that once with the World Tag Team Titles one night, when the belts changed hands like twice in the evening. I can't remember the exact order of the title changes, but Edge & Christian, The Hardys and The Dudleys were involved. I think it may have gone from E&C to Matt & Jeff to Team 3D, but I can't remember.

Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero told a really episodic story that week Shawn Michaels and Shelton Benjamin had their match, and it ended in a Street Fight that night. Good stuff, that.
