View Full Version : If you were allowed to choose one wrestler to get hired/re-hired by the WWE?

Who would it be, and why?
Exyle
05-15-2009, 11:20 AM
Paul Heyman.
Why? I was thinking about the question, and any wrestler that came to mind made me think twice. Would they be used well? Chances are the answer would be "No." If Paul Heyman is in creative (and given enough power to make an impact), I think he could turn around some of the drab storylines.
Even more, I have confidence in Heyman's ability to put over new talent.
If the answer you're looking for must be a wrestler, I'm going to go with Nigel McGuiness. He seems like he would fit in perfectly in the WWE environment. Plenty of charisma, and he has the size that Vince likes.

The one person I would like to see is Sting. He was one of my favorites in WCW and I always wanted him on WWE even if just for a year. Even Ric Flair wanted him to come over which he talked about in his DVD. Another person would be Petey Williams. I love his finisher move.

Molly Holly. Having her around would make for better TV, and I'm sure there's lots of people on here that wouldn't make Women's matches Piss-Break-Time with her involved again. And it sucks not being able to see that beautifull ass that made her a heel every week :'(
Either Her, or Paul Heyman. He could probably make a little more of an impact :shifty:

I would make a case for A-Train. Many of the smaller guys in ROH or TNA probably would get the Scotty Goldman treatment. A-Train has a history with the company and has made significant improvements to his craft in Japan. I could see him taking Kozlov's spot easily.

Probably Kurt Angle. Lots of main event guys he could work with and would feel fresh due to how long he has been away from the company. I would mark out like never before if he was a surprise entrant in a Royal Rumble match

SID! No explanation needed.
Psycho Sid for another run, a clean and sober Jake Roberts 10 years younger, same with Scott Hall. I wouldn't mind nash or hall coming back to WWE if they were both capable and didn't do the fucking bullshit NWO shit AGAIN.
Lesnar would by far be my top choice.

Currently alive, in their current status, with their current ability? I don't think there're too many guys who'd be worthwhile.
Kurt Angle is getting up there in age and is getting too small for a real push in WWE and even if he was larger and younger he probably wouldn't get the push and even if he did get pushed he wouldn't make a huge impact. He'd be great to have in WWE but not as a "if you could get one guy hired" thing.
Most of the other "dream guys" are just that. They're all dead or have diminished skills or junkies.
I honestly couldn't think of anybody who could fit that bill much better than three guys.
1) Brock Lesnar- Obviously, Brock is in his prime and one of the best wresters (wrestler wrestlers not pro wrestlers) in the world. Additionally, he's probably got more cred than anybody in WWE history. Brock could literally be pushed with a Goldberg streak and no one would disagree that he could actually do it in a 'real fight' situation.
2) Bill Goldberg- Goldberg's not the best wrestler and he's not great on the mic. Goldberg's not the most popular. Goldberg can't have great Iron Man, Ladder, Extreme Rules or Submission matches. But if Goldberg walked in on Raw this Monday and squashed Orton for the title it could fly. Goldberg could come in and do what John Cena does (Mr. Invincible) and have the opposite reaction of what Cena gets. Goldberg could have multiple runs with the title and it'd be better than what's on WWE today. And I'm not even a Goldberg mark. I hated him in WCW. His WWE run was 'meh.' But he's better than what they've got now. Also, Goldberg vs. Cena or Orton or Edge or Batista or Michaels or Mysterio or Punk or just about anybody on the roster except Triple H, Kane or Jericho is something that puts two established wrestlers against each other and it's fresh!
Even if you didn't want to push him, Goldberg could be used to give 80% of WWE's roster some cred that is much needed. Sting can't do that. Not even Angle can do that. A guy beating Goldberg is just under a guy beating Austin and just above a guy beating Taz. The guy's only lost to like Triple H, Bret Hart and Kevin Nash! And he's doable if WWE gives him some f***ing money!
3) Paul Heyman- Unfortunately, there's only two wrestlers on this short list. We all know why Heyman'd be a good choice. Unfortunately, he'd never get the chance to do what he wants to do creatively with WWE. If I could make decisions regarding TNA, I'd get rid of whatever huge contract I had to (be it Sting, Steiner, Nash, Foley, etc.) and I'd get rid of whoever Heyman doesn't want in creative and hire Heyman as my head of creative and give him all but free reign to do as he wishes. Let's face it. ECW had s*** for talent but Heyman made it seem great. He had guys go against RVD who shouldn't be in the same building as RVD and people bought it. Heyman wouldn't need all those f***ing BIG NAMES to make the show good and he'd know it. Unfortunately, neither WWE or TNA is willing to put up with his bulls*** attitude long enough to give him a job.

I'd like to see Nash as he was around the time he was feuding with HHH, and then Jericho. I actually bought the "tagged classics" double set featuring Backlash and Judgment day 03 80% to own the two matches that featured him.
The other 20%, incidentally, was for the IC title re-activation battle royal. Since, up until recently, my answer to this question would have been "Christian."

Since the title says WRESTLER, I'm not going to say Paul E. Dangerously.
Since is says wrestler, my knee jerk reaction is El Generico, followed up closely by Pac. WWE could book an entire PPV with moves they won't let them do. However, with since they'd be wished the best of luck in their future endevors in record time, one more person comes to mind...
The heel scene in WWE has become... drab. You have some monsters, you have some pyschos, some people who are just plain mean, but no one the WWE fan can really hate. Edge and Orton still push merch as their cheered by a group of fans. Jericho is at par as a heel but nothing awesome. The Big Show is just a giant, Chavo is a pussy, no one cares if Kane is a face or a heel....
So what kind of heel can the WWE get that would piss the fans off the no edge, and get everyone to mark out and hate?
Lemme tell ya his name....

Brock Lesnar would be a fantastic choice. He's a great wrestler, and he brings a legitimate background with him. Also, as a credible main eventer, and the guy the WWE was going to push as "the star" of World Wrestling Entertainment, the John Cena jets might be cooled a little.
I'll be honest -- I had Rob Van Dam, Elijah Burke and Muhammad Hassan when I had this thread in mind. RVD would just be a legitimate main event guy for any of the three brands, and would help out the overall product. Elijah Burke and Muhammad Hassan were just two guys with real star potential. Hassan was so about to win the World Heavyweight Title before he decided to leave the company. Hassan as the United States Champion would have been a vicious angle, too. Truthfully, I'd love to see a feud between Hassan and Burke, with Hassan being critical of the United States, with Elijah Burke in his patriotic face character from OVW, counteracting Hassan's points.
Paul Heyman is another answer I'll pay. I did say wrestler, and I was thinking of wrestlers, but the theory behind Heyman is very good. He could do so much for the company. Plus, if he gave a hand on commentary, I'd be a happy, happy man.
I'm hoping Kurt Angle leaves TNA when his contract expires. I don't care if he goes back to the WWE, or tries to stick it to the man again, and goes to ROH, but Angle in the WWE would be very welcome from me.
Screw bringing anyone back, I just wish they'd stop calling it sports entertainment and go back to wrastlin'

I don't get all the Hassan love. The guy was all gimmick. If you called him Bill Stevens and have him a Mean Street Posse gimmick there is no way it would have gotten over. The whole anti-American thing is only good in short spurts.

Well, I'd like to see Bret Hart back, but I know he can't wrestle, and he also doesn't want to be remembered for a non-wrestling role, but if he could just make one cameo appearance on Monday Night Raw while in Montreal to finally get some closure for himself and for the fans, that'd be great. Perhaps the "You Screwed Bret" chants would end.
I envision it as Bret Hart coming out to give a speech, and after he's done, Shawn Michaels walks out to a loud chorus of boo's, gets into the ring, cuts a short promo with it ending with him apologizing to Bret for screwing him, followed by a handshake, then a recreation of the scene from "Cobra" with Shawn asking Bret in the mic as they shake hands, "No hard feelings?" Then Bret smiles, turns, and then turns back around and punches Shawn right in the mouth. Then Bret picks up the mic, and says: "No hard feelings.", then leaves to a loud pop while his music blasts over the P.A.
Then that following March, Bret Hart inducts Shawn Michaels into the hall of fame.

Marty Jannetty, just to set some sort of record.
Really there's a host of guys that I would like to bring in/rehire. My condition would be that certain guys were dropped in order to make room and that the guys coming in were used "properly".
Suprised nobody has said AJ Styles or Chris Daniels! Both of those guys could go over huge (much like Evan Bourne has) if they were allowed to do as they like in the ring.
RVD, Hassan and Burke are good shouts, as is Heyman either as booker or commentator (or both).
But - given that I'm a huge mark for the guy - I'd have to say Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar v Orton
Lesnar v Batista
Lesnar v HHH
Lesnar v Shawn Michaels
Lesnar v Jericho
Lesnar v Edge
Lesnar v Punk
And that's just for starts!

Are you being serious with your suggestion, FourFifty? While he wouldn't even make my top twenty, Jeff Jarrett being back in the WWE would be hilarious to see. It would probably mean that the WWE would own TNA, which means that the WWE might start counting the World Title reigns there as legit, which means good things for Christian, R-Truth, Jeff Jarrett and whoever they bring over.
I'd actually be intrigued by a Triple H/Jeff Jarrett feud/partnership.
