I stopped doing these for no good reason back in the fall.
We've already done Arnold, Spielberg and Bill Murray.
This round,

My vote is for Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and Big.

Forrest Gump
Big
Saving Private Ryan
I chose these 3 because they're probably my favorites of his, and now that I'm looking at this list it's a great trio to show his range as an actor.
It breaks my heart that I can't include Toy Story and a few others

1. Forrest Gump - This is an easy one for me as in my opinion it's the perfect movie with Hanks at the top of his game.
2. Catch Me If You Can - Mad underrated movie for both Hanks and Spielberg.
3. Big - Had to include an 80s comedy
fuck that was hard though

I was debating on Toy Story, Catch Me If You Can, That Thing You Do and Apollo 13, but I couldn't justify getting rid of any of my 3. As you said, he can pull off a fairly impressive range.

Seems like we'll see a lot of Forrest Gump/Big. I wonder how much deviation there will be on that third spot.

Amazing film. Not as widely known as you'd think, either. Hilarious though. Hanks is brilliant in it but I think Bruce Dern stole the movie.
"Hey man, when's the big unveiling, huh? I gotta go to work in a couple of hours, you know."
"Hey man, piss off."

The exact line escapes me but I always get a charge out of how he says he doesn't want to go to the lake house because they're strange neighbor with the big head will get drunk and fall down the stairs, like always.

Forrest Gump?? Really? I cant watch that stupid ass movie. Its fucking horrible tbh. Plus I love how Benjamin Button basically copied that whole movie accept backwards. That was fantastic.

I agree with this, Forrest Gump is one of the worst movies ever made, can't stand it.
"Why don't you love me, Jennay".
Fuck off you self-righteous moron.
It's also one of the most conservative movies ever made.

Forrest Gump is in my top 5 probably. Don't see how anybody could not like it tbh, but to each man his own.
The only thing i can say good about Forrest Gump was that Hanks truely mastered the whole " I'm really fucking retarded without being clinically diagnosed as really really retarded " role.
The whole point of the movie seems to be that Forrest Gump really was just fucking dumb. Possibly gay too. I dunno. The part where he's standing on the shrimp boat with his hands on his hips. Maybe he was so dumb he didnt know how to act straight.
The movie was fucking annoying as shit.

Forrest is indifferent, ignorant, raised on wholesome evangelical values and goes on to be a football star, war hero, millionaire....essentailly lives the "American Dream". Jenny likes folk music, smart and ambitious, is sexually liberated, becomes a social activist and dies a horrible death of AIDS.
Not to mention the film is sentimental, cloying shit.
His mother was a whore who fucked Elvis. He somehow managed to swindle a million dollar shrimping business away from the poor black family of Bubba and they were pretty happy about it. Who writes this shit seriously?

Actually, the book was a hell of a lot better than the movie, and diverged quite a bit. Originally Forrest was an idiot savant who was certifiably retarded but could do mathematical computation at computer levels. Excellent read.
Still loved the movie though.

I kind of liked the symbolism of the movie Forrest Gump. Here you have all these able bodied people around Forrest who have all the tools needed to succeed in almost anything but decide to throw everything away and not use was god gave them. Then there's Forrest who doesn't have these tools handed to him but he makes the best with what he has and goes on to do all of these great things. Inspirational to say the least, imo.

Hanks is great in Saving Private Ryan, Cast Away, Forest Gump, etc; but I really miss his 80's comedy movies like those above.
