Anyone else in agreement that The Miz is nothing special?

That rap he did to mock John Cena on Raw last week.....Was Jerry the King pretty much telling him how much he sucked? I seriously doubt that was kayfabe.

I had to walk away before he started "rapping". I could not bear to watch something like that.

But yes, anything he says has all the charm of a fork being scraped along a china plate.

The Miz is coming into his own here, unfortunately we have to sit through the good and the bad as he learns the ropes. So far on RAW, for every OK promo he has done he's had 3-4 great promos. They can't all be golden nor should we expect it yet, tbh. I personally think The Miz is very charismatic, talented in the ring, and is learning the singles game rather quickly. It's always a bumpy road when great tag teams split up, as each member has to establish himself all over again to not be associated with the other half. I say give it a little more time.

The whole thing with it is he plays it (or better yet the bookers) play it like he is the only guy in the company, or better yet the first in the entire wrestling industry at a whole to have the "cocky guy with game" gimmick.

Like that hasn't been done 127 times already, and as of at least 5 other WWE talent don't already have that down pat as is...

How would it make sense for a cocky heel to act otherwise and acknowledge all the cocky heels of the past? I don't feel like I'm following you here.

By the way, you already said it, but anything having to do with his character is a result of the writers. He can only really do his best with what he is given. The fact that there's been a billion gimmicks just like it is really saying more about the writers than anything else. Also though, I think "guy that thinks he is better than everybody" is kind of the default heel gimmick if they don't have anything else. Who doesn't know a guy like that?

I can't wait 'till they can turn John Cena Heel (he'd have to join the NWO and be called Hollywood Cena at this point) so he can do those rap-promo's again.

He WAS good as a heel on smackdown during the smackdown 6
years(or was it the smackdown 5)

Alright, I never said that he HAD to honor or pay homage to cocky pricks of the past. That was so not the point I was getting at. No inference of that was in my original post.

However, I do agree with you on the rest. Good points.

I think he has stepped up and done very well in a short time. He is attracting legit heat to where people hate him and want to see him get killed now. He could have easily have got X-Pac heat instead with one wrong turn.

The guy can cut promos and hold his own in the ring. This can either improve, or stay the same.
He may be limited to midcard for life, but what's wrong with that?

I think it's ignorant to hate him just because of his past work, when he's clearly more talented than the majority of his peers in all departments

His in-ring is fine, and I really appreciate his talent in that category. But he can't play off people at all, and only about 50% of his solo mic work is decent.

He's been pretty awesome for a couple of years now. Natural heel. Great on the mic. Great tag wrestler. Good in singles. He'll continue to improve.

The Miz really is nothing special. He's generally passable at best. His freestyle was one of those "so bad it's good" deals. Which, of course, was awesome in and of itself, but only in the sense one might call William Hung awesome...

The Miz is growing on me. I like the character he's currently playing, which has taken a turn to almost be a dig at "smarks." The guy draws good heat, is good in the ring and is good on the mic. While that doesn't make him great, he does qualify as good, in my opinion.

If he keeps getting better, who knows, the guy could become great. If that happens, it happens.

I would love to see him paired with Maryse on-screen. Those two would make an awesome heel couple.

I fuckin hate The miz what the hell he has a cheap ass face like he's softer than big shows stomach he has failure written all over him.
I can't believe he's still in WWE I'd rather have Shelton Benjamin than Miz

It wasn't much worse than Christian saying that Cena talked like Snoop Dogg and looked like Corey Haim. The only difference is that people aren't swinging off The Miz's nuts like they are Christian's.

The Miz has all sorts of room to grow, and judging from how much he already has, I think we have a lot to look forward to from him. He's a lifelong fan living a dream, which I think is very cool, and he's becoming quite good at it as well, which is icing on the cake.

You are forgetting Christian is actually awesome and has the charisma to pull something like that off. Not to mention impecciable timing.

Also, most wrestlers are living their dream, it's not like you grow up playing pro wrestling as a kid, development talent and skills and then get drafted to the bigs. I'd assume that the majority of guys grew up watching and loving wrestling.

Whether he is living a dream or not, he is still mad annouying and makes you wanan change the channel.

These are equally true. I'm happy for him, he doesn't offend me as a person, but he's remarkably mediocre.

Absolutely. He has won both the WWE & World Tag Team titles. What else can he possibly ask for?

I agree with you that The Miz would make for a decent US champion. However, I just want to ask you, what is the point of titles and wrestling in general if the only reason for winning a title is to put a character over? You seem to be a little too anxious in that regard, having this wrestler win this title or this guy going over that guy to appease some sort of mental equilibrium that you have designed in your head. After a while it becomes formulaic. Sometimes it is sufficient for a wrestler to just be "United States Champion", even if he doesn't fit his necessities for a push or whatever.

MVP doesnt NEED to be champ, but he does NEED a great program. This shit he has going now OVER the US strap is great. He can have solid matches with Regal and Kofi. HE had the program of the year with Hardy last year, so let these four men do their thing, and elevate Raw to the A show while the old guys take a breather.

The Miz has been gold ever since the draft. His mic skills are better than almost everyone on the roster, his in-ring skills are steadily improving, and he's building heat in a similar fashion to Chris Jericho when he was picking on Goldberg in WCW.

So, why all The Miz hate? Because right now, on this board, the "cool thing" is to dislike Mike Mizanin. You can talk about he's a piss break, I change the channel, this and that, but that just shows that you are so unwilling to try and give him a chance that you actually won't. So, whatever. It's "Kurt Angle suxors now that he's in TNA" all over again.

There's not a lot of Miz hate. In fact a good 80 percent of the people here are defending him against my "evil, despicable" opinion. I don't get why. It's like I shit on Chris Daughtry or something.

And what the fuck are you talking about "cool thing", im too old to be trying to start or promote fads. I was stating an opinion. Not kissing his ass or holding the guy up on a pedestal doesn't mean I don't know anything about how life works.

I honestly was not a fan of Miz up until his promos on Cena. I would have thought Morrison would have really shot up in my eyes before Miz (always loved Morrison) but it's the opposite.

But, as I've said in the past, I'm glad they're taking the relatively slow build with Morrison.
