I asked myself this question last night kind of out of nowhere while watching Cavs/Magic the other night. Where did the slapping high five with your team after the first foul shot come from? It kind of just dawned on me, but even after a guy misses, his team comes over and gives him a high five. And I have done it tons of times before and you've probably done it too if you've played competitive/organized basketball.

Actually, this whole thing dawned on me because one of the Cavs players hit a foul shot, but then nobody came to slap high five, so he had to walk over to somebody to get his high five in

Andrew Bogut shows how it's done.

lol, that's awesome.

I guess it's just one of those things that will always be done just because.

Played basketball for about 6 years in my school days. Never once did that or had it done to me.
