I noticed the fans always boo him. Why is this.

I have a feeling that it is due to him making some pretty horrid decisions in the octagon.

Considering that Lavigne is actually a step up from Herb Dean (who has stopped some fights early), Steve Mazzagati (who decided to Stand up and deduct a point from Brock Lesnar after one punch to the back of Frank Mir's head. A punch that Mir TURNED AWAY FROM. He's also stopped some fights LATE.), and Dan Mirgliota (sp? the guy who called the Kimbo/Colossus fight), it's sad.

Seriously, Dana needs to get his head out of his ass and bring back Big John. He and Mario Yamasaki are the best refs.

besides the above reasons stated the reasons for the boos saturday was during the nover/bradly fight yves stepped in to stop the fight while nover was getting hit and then relised he was ok and let them resume then called it

I share the exact same sentiments Herb usually does stop some fights early. Steve Mazzagati is a complete joke of a referee.

What are your thoughts on Yamasaki?

With that name anyway, he's gotta be a cock.

You have to remember these referee's call a much higher concentration of PPV fights than any boxing ref. I think the ratio of fights to fights where a referee has made a talking point bad call is likely pretty low with UFC.

Agreed, what was the big fallout between he and White anyway? I don't think I ever heard the specifics.

Big John retired....also you guys do realise that the refs are hired by the Athletic Commision, not the UFC yeah

I'm aware of that, and I know John retired, only to come out of retirement and ref for Affliction.

I was under the impression that he and White had a pretty big fallout though, hence why he's with Affliction and pretty much any and everyone who isn't Zuffa now.

He hasn't gone back to the UFC because he hasn't applied for a Nevada license. Also McCarthy has always told the commission he can only work on certain nights and isn't available the nights the UFC are running shows. That's his own choice. Dana White has ZERO influence on what referees are on his show (aside from the England shows) or what fights the refs are ruling over.

I think Yamasaki is the best referee not named John McCarthy.

Lavigne has just had to of the worst matches where he stopped the fight then restarted em then stopped them again Nover vs Bradley was the latest one, the other one was matt brown vs pete sell which was horrible to watch, sell was out on his feet and the fight kept going
