Hideo Kojima teases us again.

Hideo Kojima has set up another teaser site. This time it's a flash site of a field in a thunder storm at night. The page has a clock counting down in the centre. Every 30 seconds or so a large rumble of thunder is heard and lightening flashes and a letter or number appears breifly behind the clock. If you watch it long enough, Big Bosses face appears on the screen before disappearing after a few seconds and then we get more letters and numbers.

In the time I watched it, I got a 3 then a 5 then the image of Big Boss, then E then e again but in lower case for some weird reason and then P and finally R. Then I stopped watching. A leak has shown an image of Big Boss and an image of Raiden in his Ninja suit (Pic (http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/kotaku/2009/05/raiden_famitsu_kp-1.jpg)). This is leading people to think there could be 2 MGS games on the way.

The logo on the hat of Big Boss is said to be important and "a new kind of system".
I'm not sure what all the letters and numbers are unless it's just random stuff or the title of the game or something. There is an interveiw from Famitsu on Kotaku where Hideo Kojima talks about it but most of it is "XXXX" censored for some reason. I'm assuming so as not to give things away or possibley because whoever translated it to English isn't very good.

Neither do I. I just wanted to pass on this news as it seems to be buzzing around a lot lately.
I'm interested in what will be revealed purely through curiosity.

This better not be just some new mode or something for metal gear online. Really hoping it's a new game.

Also, Metal Gear Solid is over. Died with Snake. But Kojima said the Metal Gear series as a whole wasn't over, so if it is a new game, it will be the start of a new chapter in the series.

Which doesn't bother me at all. Loved every game in this series besides snake's revenge, and the NES Metal Gear.

I don't have a problem with kojima's writing like a lot of people do, as I don't take it very seriously. One exception being MGS3 as that was the best written story of them all, and had my favorite ending in a videogame ever.

Speculating on the clues, if it is a new game, it looks like the story may take place in two time periods, where you play big boss in the past, and raiden in the present. Just a guess, but that would be awesome.

It's E3 next week and it's been going around that Kojima or whoever is going to announce the next project.

Hopefully that will be the case and not Kojima coming out to announce another countdown to TGS or something :roll:

Another possibility I've heard was a game starring a grown-up Sunny. I thought that sounded kind of awesome.

Still think the Big Boss/Raiden split protagonist would be the best idea. That way you could have a new type of play style for raiden, and please hardcore faithful by having big boss play like the usual MG methods.

I am with the theory that it probably won't be a new game..but an expansion pack for MGS4. Anyways, I don't owe a PS3 so bah :( Maybe ill borrow one from a friend and rent MGS4.

UPDATE: Looks like there might be confirmation that MGS: Rising could well be coming to the PlayStation 3 and PC in addition to Xbox 360. Konami's list of games on Games Press (a private PR service for the press) now shows the title coming to all three platforms. Konami (http://games.ign.com/objects/025/025039.html) unfortunately will not make official comment at this time, so we will have to wait for all the rumors to be proven true or false until tomorrow afternoon when Sony has its conference (11AM PST).

There was quite a lot of confusion on whether this game would only be on Xbox 360. During the conference, Microsoft specifically stated that everything shown after Final Fantasy XIII would be exclusive to 360, thus the original implication. A few hours later, G4 (http://e3.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/696050/Metal-Gear-Solid-Rising-Not-Exclusive-To-360.html) was able to quickly chat with Microsoft's John Schappert, where he said, "You know, we didn't say that it was exclusive..." (We apologize for the confusion if you've been following the many, many updates on this ongoing saga.) Konami (http://games.ign.com/objects/025/025039.html) put out a press release listing only an Xbox 360 version, but the word "exclusive" has yet to be mentioned in any MGS: Rising statement from Microsoft or Konami, and the comment at the Microsoft E3 Conference could have been a mistake.

Apparently this is a true sequel to MGS3, and Kojima will be directly involved with the development. Seems MGSPO is going to go the Snake's Revenge route of "That never happened." Can't say I'm dissapointed by that.

Apparently Rising will be worked on by a completely new team as the MGS4 team will be working on Peace Walker. It will follow the "American" model of making a game engine for multiple consoles. Huh.

Well the fact that it's a new team developing it, while the MGS 4 team is doing peace walker, is big news, imo.

Just speculation, but hope they aren't planning to turn it into some hack n slash crap.

If Raiden's game ends up an action title on par with DMC, GoW, Ninja Gaiden and few others - I'd be for it. But I doubt it if his game is made in tandem with Big Boss' game.

I mean,I don't doubt it would be good if theywent the HnS route, it's just not what I'dwant to play in a new current gen Metal Gear.

What would be awesome is if it was like a fusion of Metal Gear Solid and Tenchu. It would make sense, and be ridiculous awesome.

To be honest, MGS has surpassed Tenchu in several elements. MGS could gain nothing applying Tenchu gameplay.

And let's talk about Tenchu real quick. I fucking loved Tenchu. I felt like it was heading somewhere. Than the corporate BS-train came in and it just stalled. It's high time somebody steps up to the plate and deliver a 'ninja-simulation' for the ages. Nobody's really trying. If I was a publisher I'd start drafting creators.
