He had it together on ECW. Very cool.

I didn't like his chances until they made it a triple threat match. It'd be a huge waste of a storyline if he didn't win.

I hope he wins, and is champ for about a week until he loses the title and gets an ovation for his last match. Since his contract is up though I think he might come up short.

I'd at least let him run to the next ppv. If it's Swagger, you make it that if Dreamer wins, Swagger never gets another ECW title shot; if Swagger wins, Dreamer retires.

In all fairness, if he "retired" on Sunday, chances are he'd be back next month anyways...

I actually don't think it he will do either.
Somehow they will work it in so that he doesn't win the title and yet he doesn't have to retire, I had heard that he was they were going to sign him to a new deal, so I doubt that he would turn it down.

My assumption has been both. Wins, retires champ.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dreamer win the belt and have it for a while, but I would like even more to see him in the role of GM. I think that with him in that role it could make a new life for ECW and make it into a more relevant part of WWE and give more meaning to the ECW Title. (after they get a new style belt and drop this DIva knockoff belt)

I honestly wouldn't be surprised either way. Dreamer seems like he wants to keep wrestling, and let's face it -- ECW doesn't exactly have a deep talent pool. Dreamer can talk, he can still work, and something like winning the ECW Title could get him very over. It'd also lead to rematches with Christian, and surely Jack Swagger could bitch and get another match.
And what's the harm of giving Dreamer an ECW Title run? It's not like the company really treats the title that seriously, anyway. It'd help Dreamer, and it furthers storylines. Otherwise, the best ECW is going to have is Christian pinning Dreamer, and Swagger complaining that he still hasn't had a fair shake *cue some sort of match at The Bash*.
Don't ask me why, but I could also see Dreamer turning heel. Some sort of ego trip from living the dream after being a dreamer for so long angle. The dude can then ease back into a face role when he loses the belt (he gets humbled), and then work down into a General Manager role, or something.
I'd like to see him when the title and than decide to retire anyway.
But the chances of that happening slim to none.

Apparently he's booked to do house shows in August, so take that as you will.
I'd like to see him win the title with a pin over Swagger. Then, on the next ECW, retire and vacate the belt. He would then announce a tournament/4 Way/whatever to determine a new champion.
Swagger would come out and say something like "You can't do that! Only the GM can book matches" to which Dreamer would respond "Well, as of vacating this title, I am the GM!".

Nah, Tommy Dreamer needs to actually be approved of GM. A man just can't take that title, yo.
I think we can rule out Jack Swagger winning the ECW Title right now. I mean, it's possible and everything, but Finlay says he's coming after Swagger. It seems they have got a storyline coming up, and there will be unresolved issues with Christian if Swagger wins the belt.
It's between Christian or Tommy Dreamer, I think. Right now, I think Dreamer winning would actually be a shock, and then he can rematch Christian for the title.

Can't see him winning the title otherwise christians title reign would be pointless. Could see him as a future GM though.

But would any of us REALLY want to see Dreamer as GM if the product remains the same?
To me, it's only worth it if WWECW moves at least a little bit towards the old ECW ways.

Just think a longer title reign and dreamer as GM would be better.

I didn't say he was self appointed! The issue would have been discussed "backstage" and he would be revealing these facts as a suprise infront of the audience.
I thought that was pretty obvious.

As opposed to Xian becoming the first 2x ECW champ since the ECW revival? And getting his second win over the last remaining ECW Original?

Really don't get your arguments here. Guess you want dreamer to stay as a wrestler, which is fair enough. I just think his time is up. Good luck to him if it ain't.

Like they wouldn't make a big deal out of that? That ECW has officially "moved on" isn't something they would turn into Dreamer accepting his retirement? It's one thing for him to go out as a loser in a match with the odds in his favor; it's another to take the title from him and then demonstrate that he needs ECW, but it doesn't need him.
Hell, Striker was saying Tuesday night, "Can you even imagine ECW without Tommy Dreamer?" To you and I, the implications might be minimal, but they'd play this up as much as Kane was "so ugly" when took off his mask.

His GM status can come at any point after that, because the fans would love it and it would be a slap in the face to the heels that went on the insult spree after his title loss.

Ignore him, he's probably drunk as always.
Although it doesn't make christain look great to lose to Dreamer, they could work it out so that christian drops the title but still comes out looking strong, then after a short title reign by dreamer, christain can get the title back or possible move onto RAW or SD.

You mean have Swagger take the pinfall then?
If Dreamer does win, I think that's how it'll go down. Swagger is the one who has been goading Dreamer since he made the announcement, telling him to give it up or whatever.
Dreamer pins Swagger, becomes ECW Champ and gets the moral victory over Swagger. Christian loses the belt put looks strong as he isn't pinned. Swagger is the young, cocky heel that gets taught a lesson by the veteran. He could even play up the fact that "It wasn't fair" as it was 2 on 1.

I think what it comes down to is whether Tommy Dreamer is going to retire. It doesn't seem like Dreamer is ready to, unless he is pulling the wool over our eyes. He says that he wants to keep wrestling, and quite frankly, given how entertaining Dreamer has been recently, and given that he can still work quite well and put talent over, I can't see the WWE saying "Nah, man, you're not getting in the ring anymore."
If Dreamer is staying under contract and wants to keep wrestling, then I can definitely see him winning. Dreamer's been made to look capable recently, and I think his second ECW Title win would be used to elevate him more than anything.
"I've still got it" Dreamer has got legs, and can just add more gas to the tank of the character. Both Christian and Finlay have feuds waiting with Jack Swagger and The Hart Dynasty, respectively, so all you have to do is line someone up for Dreamer. A heel turn for Tommy, and a defense against Christian before feuding with Evan Bourne could be cool.
