The "Summer of Arcade (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/summer-of-arcade)" returns this year to bring you more of the XBLA games that'll keep you out of that nasty cancer-causing sun. The titles slated are:

'Splosion Man (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/splosion-man)
Shadow Complex (http://xbox.joystiq.com/tag/shadow-complex)
TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled (http://xbox.joystiq.com/tag/tmnt)
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2)
Monkey Island Special Edition (http://xbox.joystiq.com/tag/monkey-island)
Trials HD (http://xbox.joystiq.com/tag/trials-hd)

Of course, you'd like to know when the festivities kick off. And we'd love to tell you, but there's currently "nothing to announce" about dates. So sad.

MvC2, Shadow Complex, TMNT and Monkey island are must haves for me :D

The music and gameplay footage makes me want to buy everything. :(

Monkey Island is a must, but I bet they will be gay and it will be the last one released.

XBLA 'Summer of Arcade' 2009 release schedule announced (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/xbla-summer-of-arcade-2009-release-schedule/)

Microsoft's Major Nelson (http://majornelson.com/archive/2009/07/09/2nd-annual-summer-of-arcade-kicks-off-july-22nd.aspx) has revealed the full details of this year's "Summer of Arcade" ... and it's going to be mighty expensive if you're interested in the whole kaboodle.

July 22: TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/turtles-in-time) 1200http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif ($15)
July 29: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (http://joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2) 1200http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif ($15)
August 5: 'Splosion Man (http://joystiq.com/tag/splosion-man) 800http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif ($10)
August 12: Trials HD (http://joystiq.com/tag/trials-hd) 1200http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif ($15)

The only difference from this list and the previously announced lineup (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/01/summer-of-arcade-returns-includes-marvel-vs-capcom-2-tmnt-mo/) is the absence of Monkey Island Special Edition, which is scheduled for release next week on July 15 (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/discover-the-secret-of-monkey-island-again-on-july-15/).

MvC2 is going to be epic. I used to have that cabinet in the barracks after bootcamp, I probably pumped 200 bucks into that fucker in 6 months

Fuck all these 1200 point price tags on rereleases.

Also, fuck delays.

G

1200 point price tags are nothing when you got $30 4000 point cards

That's actually why I wasn't so hesitant to buy the ripoff known as the outfit pack for SF4.

I remembered when the only good version of MvC2 was for the Dreamcast because of the lack of bugs.

Funky Fly

Good news then because this one is built off the dreamcast version.

I was all fucking excited to download TMNT. Even woke up a little early to play it. Now, I find out it's been switched with some stupid game and is being released Aug 5th. :foc:

G
07-24-2009, 09:15 AM
Nah, I'm down to 4000. I need 3600 for MvC2, TMNT4 & Shadow Complex coming out. So, I really only have 400. I'd need to get another points card sometime in the next few weeks, and I don't have any money. Plus I'm going to need another fucking 800 for Map Pack 3 in the next few weeks.

Kane Knight

I DLed the demo but haven't played yet. I just bought like6 songs this week on RB, so I wouldn't buy it right away anyway. Looked decent, but it's not TMNT.

Plus multiplayer is fun as hell. You need to time shit out to do team splosions.

I finished the single player on Splosion Man last night. It was petty cool. If they ever made Splosion Man 2 or put out some DLC, I'd buy it.

They do have a "downloaded content" option in the main menu, so there is probably more shit on the way.

'Splosion Mans leaderboard has been screwed up. People are using glitches to get through levels in 2 second.
I got my first ever 1st place on a videogame leader board by getting the highest score and fastest time on level 3-18. I'm hoping not to lose it to a glitch user but it's only a matter of time, really.

Funky Fly
07-26-2009, 06:41 PM
They're doing it because there is a contest for a replica Splosion Man statue for #1 on the leaderboards.

Boomer

I honestly have no reason to be so hyped for Shadow Complex, yet I am. I just keep thinking about it. I liked Metroid, but I never adored Metroid. Dunno, it just feels like it will set a pretty big mark for DLC.

Still wanna download this. Someone should spot me $30 to buy a points card. I'll even gift you 1100 points in Wii games for the trouble. ;)

Yeah, I know. Level 3-8. I doubt Twisted Pixel are going to see a 2 second time record and not know instantly it was glitched.
I spent about an hour yesterday trying to get through 3-8 flawlessly to try and get the top spot. I've not done it yet but the contest doesn't end until september so there is plenty of time.

Microsoft will give you $10! (For spending $70 on Xbox Live) (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/29/microsoft-will-give-you-10-for-spending-70-on-xbox-live/)

by Richard Mitchell (http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/richard-mitchell/) { 2 hours ago } http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/001xbox001.png (http://xbox.joystiq.com/)
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/06/summerofarcade580.jpg

So, here's an interesting promotion. A press release just hit the ol' Joystiq inbox, claiming that those who buy all of the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/summer-of-arcade) titles will be treated to 800http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif, also known as $10 in Microsoft's funny money. This calls for copy and paste!

July 22: 'Splosion Man (http://joystiq.com/tag/splosion-man) 800http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif ($10)
July 29: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (http://joystiq.com/tag/marvel-vs-capcom-2) 1200http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif ($15)
August 5: TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/turtles-in-time) 1200http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif ($15)
August 12: Trials HD (http://joystiq.com/tag/trials-hd) 1200http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif ($15)
August 19: Shadow Complex (http://joystiq.com/tag/shadow-complex) 1200http://www.blogcdn.com/www.xbox360fanboy.com/media/2007/11/microsoftpointslogosmall.gif ($15)

Just adding those up -- carry the one --- that's a free $10 for spending $70 on Xbox Live. Keep in mind it's $10 you can only spend on Xbox Live (or Zune Marketplace). While the deal might seem silly at first glance, it does essentially boil down to five XBLA games for $60, the price of one retail game. And, as another Joystiq editor pointed out, that retail game could never be 'Splosion Man.

It's a nice bonus if you already plan to pick up all the games. If you don't, you'll be saving money anyway. Everybody wins!

I very much adore 2-d metroid, so Shadow Complex will probably make me cum.
