I think I've found my new favourite wrestler. That music is amazing. Sounds like Sunglasses at night by Corey Hart I believe.

I like Hawkins & Ryder. Both men have got potential, and both are REALLY young last time I checked. Neither is horrible at this stage, and they should hopefully get better. Ryder just needs some proper opponents, or a storyline. Hawkins looks more like a babyface, but I think he could get more over if he served as Edge's lackey again. He wouldn't share the stage with anyone this time, and would be the sole sucker of Edge's heat.

Curt Hawkins taking the IC Title off Rey Mysterio could be pretty cool.

Want to know something wierd, I was just watching the match from a while back between Brett Major Vs Drew McIntyre with Dave Taylor. Back on track here I liked Zack so far, the music and new look is decient. I think that if he pulls a TBK and maybe "hires" Eziekiel Jackson to stand behind him and look menacing he could be more of a threat.

Zack Ryder is the goods. He has found a way to be both comedic and serious at the same time. I don't see Curt getting the same kind of push, though. I don't see any charisma in him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him endeavored this year.

A. No, it's not the same thing.

2. Orton did the Overdrive until he started doing the glorified facebuster; then Carlito did the Overdrive until enough people forgot about Maven; Now MVP does the Overdrive and calls it the Playmaker. But not only is the Overdrive a complete let down in creativity, it has never looked like the knockout move it's supposed to be. Ryder's move does, however, have a very visually jarring impact, and it's not something that's been traded off from wrestler to wrestler over the last 4 years.

Very good point Afterlife. The placement of the knee at the back of the receiving guys neck makes the impact look really good. The Playmaker is such ass. And what's a cocksmooch???

The overdrive is such a crap move, hell even Test used it at one point. :(

Back on point, Ryder is doing a good job of making the most of his push and I am very excited to see him compete against actual WWE oponents in the future, he has the look, the ability, and the charisma to get it done.

I don't think old Gregory Helms is injured, I just think he's "not fully recovered." Basically taking a break like The Undertaker, Kane and Shawn Michaels. I think it would be cool if the WWE started having Gregory pull double-duty as mild-mannered reporter Greg Helms, and playing resident Sci-Fi superhero, The Hurricane, again.

Hey, the WWE are trying to market to the kiddies again, and there is no doubt The Hurricane moved a bit of merchandise in his time.

I just watched his segment on ECW this past week. Man, the guy is charismatic. He's only 24, keep in mind. He's got the confidence and this character down. His ring work has moments of intensity, too. It'll be fun to see what he can do against a real opponent. You know it.

Evil Vito

Bumping this one. Ryder jobbed to Evan Bourne on Superstars.

So Ryder has had four matches since joining ECW...he beat two local guys and jobbed to Finlay and Bourne.

I dunno, the fact that he's jobbed to the only "name" wrestlers he's faced gives me kinda a bad feeling, especially since neither Finlay nor Bourne are currently in the ECW's main event picture.

Ryder's finish isn't original to WWE programming either. Matt Striker was using it and calling "The Golden Rule" before he became an announcer full-time. Just FYI.

I dunno, not really "feeling" his new theme. I know he's a singles competitor now, but I think they should have had him keep "In The Middle Of It Now" by Disciple. (\/):

I'm pretty sure I heard Matt Striker say "I wonder where he learned that move" once.

Also, his match with Bourne was pretty solid. The only reason Bourne and Finlay aren't in the main event picture is because of the Swagger/Christian/Dreamer thing going on, so I wouldn't worry too much about Mr. Ryder just yet. When he starts jobbing to Kozlov, you can worry.

RatedGSuperstar

Since I usually forget that ECW is on, I got my first glimpse of the new Zack Ryder on Superstars. The match with Bourne was very solid, and I think he showed a lot of versatility. It helped that they let the match go pretty long for a TV match (but that's why I like Superstars), but his in-ring mannerisms are awesome...the WOO WOO WOO thing (priceless Striker line: "I know 12 languages including Ebonics and I don't even know what WOO WOO WOO means"), constantly telling the ref to back Bourne up, etc.

He's just so much of a hateable character, from the "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night" sounding theme, to the hair, to the unique attire (half long tights half short tights). I'm even digging the "ZR" logo on the tights and jacket. Even if he's the new jobber to the stars on ECW, at least he's entertaining.

Mr. Nerfect
06-13-2009, 03:40 AM
Yeah, I don't see a problem with him jobbing to Finlay and Evan Bourne. Both of those guys pick up very big wins from time-to-time, and they're put over as big features of the ECW roster. Zack Ryder is a budding gimmick. Much like I don't fret when Paul Burchill loses to these guys, I don't doubt that Ryder's time will eventually come.
