View Full Version : I think the 'Crow' gimmick that Sting had would've worked for Ultimate Warrior

And i think it would've gotten insanely over. They had the whole 'the warrior died' thing going on. They should've had him come back dressed in the black and white, with the face paint and made him more 'human'. Have him dress up in biker/street clothes, watching matches from the rafters like sting did, have that long trenchcoat. I think it would've worked. At the same time, when he came back, better his in-ring skills..like a whole new change. Gradually, he would shake the ring ropes once in a while (vintage Warrior) just to let people remember what/who he was.
I just think it would've worked.

That would require Jim Hellwig not to have be a lunatic.

The Warrior would have never agreed to it. It probably could have worked for him, but according to that slander DVD the WWE put out for him, he bought way too far into his own character. I'm pretty sure they said the only reason Paga Shango was created was because no 'regular' human could compete with the Ultimate Warrior. Thusly, a voodoo master was his only 'logical' foe.

Honestly I think that what they got from the Warrior was the best they could have. I think that the Ultimate Warrior DVD put it well, he was only willing to come back if he could be a larger than life character (the white mist, appearing in the mirrors, disappearing etc). He could have been one of the bigger names in later WCW but he wanted COMPLETE control over every aspect of his image, career, marketing, everything.

so you could see the Warrior being able to sit completely still in the rafters? Way too spastic and insane.

I don't think this would've worked for the simple fact that Sting is awesome and the Warrior sucks.
It would be hilarious if he would keep the tension growing doing just what Sting did in this gimmick and then cut his first promo similar to the one on Hogan. With the cockpit and stuff.

Warrior didn't have the look to portray the outcast type. Sting was just the right amount of bulk to get over as a threat and a loner.

Dude, what look? He was in a league by himself already lol. But idk, i think it could've worked for his character. He could've cut promos that made sense and that would've gotten him over.

I agree with you. Never thought about it, but I do agree with you.
Still, he would have needed to a) act sane and stay employed, while being patient with his push
b) not been as much of a psycho
I'm not sure if he could do either
At the same time, when he came back, better his in-ring skills..
This is the point where the idea falls on it's ass.

lol come on XL, im trying to show how it could've been SUCCESSFUL, and that is one of the things that would've made the idea grand.
Nah warrior couldnt have pulled it off his WCW stint was actually similar to Stings Crow image as he was seen in the rafters a lot and had a long{albiet graffitied}trench coat....but no he couldnt do the crow thing justice the way I recall that whack job even had his own bat signal that would flash in in the arena.

The difference is that Sting didn't even TALK during his crow gimmick. I say this idea because both were fan favorites with the crowd, both brought great energy and charisma. Even with warrior's weird promos, with him not talking, i guess it would've been a good thing.

If Giant Gonzalez was a good worker he could have been an unstoppable world champion. But he wasn't, so he couldn't.

I've not seen enough of the Ultimate Warrior to know if he could have pulled this off, but Warrior's longetivity in the business would have been extended if he could have evolved his character somewhat.
