Never one to be outsmarted, when asked if he liked apples, Forrest Gump began spinning a long-winded yarn about how he and Jenny used to pick apples and climb the apple tree, thus rendering the punchline to the joke ineffective. The result was a blowout victory over Good Will Hunting.

That's two victories for the Gumper so far, but the next challenge is much more daunting. Bubba may know everything there is to know about the shrimpin bidness, but does he know kung-fu?

The Matrix sequels were so awful, that I think they've really hurt it's legacy.
That has nothing to do with the quality of the first though, and it should get it's credit.

I love The Matrix. It's "cooler", but that doesn't mean it's better. I think I'm gonna go with Forrest Gump.

The Matrix is a great action movie, and populates a universe of it's own. It doesn't do that as well as some of it's predecessors though.
It's no Star Wars. The movie sacrifices likeable characters and fun to focus on a science fiction story, and dark dystopian future.
The problem is, it isn't entirely convincing or original in that department. It's no Blade Runner or Terminator either.
I think the meaning and themes of the movie are overrated, and far less meaningful than some believe. In some cases, I don't think they are even present, but rather sprinkled with random references and loose symbolism to create an illusion of something profound.
It becomes a bit pretentious.

So yes, I view The Matrix as a great action movie, but only an above average science fiction or fantasty movie.
Forrest Gump can be sappy, but its a great film and one of the best of it's kind.

All the movies thus far aside from Ghostbusters have been totally overrated.

Everything on the internet is either overrated or underrated.

I love the matrix, but Forest Gump had some of the best storytelling in a movie...ever. So yeah.

Anyway, I went with the Matrix. I loved Forest Gump, but the Matrix broke a lot of new ground and in some ways revolutionized action movies. A lot of technology that was first used in the Matrix is still used to this day.

I get the feeling that Zen is "that guy" who doesn't like movies, or only likes a handful of movies that he decided were okay long ago.

Why do you hate Tom Hanks? Hating on Travolta and Keanu makes sense to me, even though I am able to enjoy them if the movie's good.

I have to go with Gump, if only because the Matrix is what has allowed Keanu Reeves to still have a career.

I had the Matrix pretty much ruined for me by the time I saw it. People were all over this film's nuts and were calling it the best film they'd ever seen. Of course when you go watch something called the best film ever, you're naturally going to be disappointed. And I was.

I really liked the first Matrix film. I thankfully hadn't had the film hyped up to me too much beforehand, so I just enjoyed a pretty good sci-fi flick. The 2nd one I tolerated, but the third one was just too much for me.

I'm well aware of the fact that Forrest Gump is the "better" movie, but the Matrix is one of my favourites. The book I'm currently reading is actually a collection of philosophical essays inspired by the Matrix.

Plus Gump will win anyway so I don't feel bad throwing a vote to the Matrix.

But the first Matrix film is amazing though.
