And it's only $9.99! This is the happiest day of my life. Well, at least I'm 53 percent of the way to the happiest day of my life. Oh! 54 now! Anybody steal this?

My friend told me that just made it available on Tuesday. They also have Resident Evil: The Director's Cut and I think he said something about Metal Gear Solid. I stopped listening after he said FFVII. Ten fucking dollars. I was looking everywhere for a copy of this, too.

Finished downloading! I'm off all day tomorrow, too. Gonna play the fuck out of this shit. Also, I think I saw my old strategy guide at my grandma's house last week. I just hope they made a way to skip the summons animations. They're great and all, but not necessary every time.

Fignuts

Nah, FFVII and FFVIII were released on PC a year after their orginal PS release.

Been around forever, just a bit rare.

Worth it though, as the visuals are obviously cleaner. I had the PC version of both thosegames back in the day.

i have seen it on torrents, and am tempted to give it a shot.. never cared for the final fantasy series because I wasn't into the turn-based combat.. played FFVIII like 1/4 of the way through and got bored. might give 7 a shot though

10 is some fucking game designed for 13 year old Weeabo anime and manga loving girls. As much as I love Final Fantasy it was hard to make myself play through that entire time. Tidus is the wimpiest hero of any FF game and I wanted him to die more than I wanted him to actually succeed in whatever the fuck he was trying to do. And it comes as no surprise that the game they make a direct sequel to is the one where you get to play dress up as all the female characters and go treasure hunting.

Also I have FF7 on PC but I downloaded it illegally and I guess it doesn't really work on laptops. Used to play it though and I don't remember the graphics being better but the sound doesn't come through as good as it does on PlayStation. Everything sounds like computer MIDIs instead of PlayStation MIDIs.

I remember way back in like 1998 when I first played this I got that Sector 7 Key from the excavation site and I used it to get back into Midgar. I think I was on that screen outside of Aeris's house where they have the flowers and I saw this transparent little figure of Aeris float by. I was just like what?????? I think that was Aeris. I have no idea whether or not this actually happened or if I was hallucinating. Nobody else remembered seeing it and I've never heard anything about it. So I dunno.

I loved the skills system in FFX (especially since it came out not too long after Diablo II) and Auron was pretty badass. Hated that the characters were voiced though. Never played X-2.

I think 7 and Tactics are probably my favorites. Loved the job system.

Yeah, there was supposed to be some way you could go around trading all these items to the guy in the slums of Midgar to bring Aeris back. There is an extra rock for her in the final battle. But I guess they took that out because they had to ship the game? Someone else aka wikipedia probably has a better explanation.

I didn't understand the sphere grid until like 10 hours into the game so all my characters got a lot better then. Didn't really like it. At the end of the game I just got into a lot of battles so I could get enough points or whatever to get Quick Hit with Auron so he and Tidus both had it and the final boss was easy after that.

Yeah the actual copy comes with yamaha synthesizer xg or whatever it is. Makes the music 10 times better. Obviously the torrent didn't include that.

Also, it may come with some direct x shit too, because before I bought it, they compared screenshots of PS and PC in a magazine, and it was like night and day. So dunno why you didn't see a different.

Also, pretty sure the aeris rumors are all bullshit, and the only way to bring her back is with something like a gameshark, or a save hack.

Well, no, there's no way to bring her back. There nearly was; there's an Aeris ghost, the extra rock in the final battle, enough Limit Breaks and weapons for her to have carried out over the entire game, left over dialogue for her in sections of the game after her demise, so on and so forth. There's snippets of code and other bullshit remaining from the revival-to-be that never quite made it to the final copy of the game.

Remember the church Aeris tended to the flower of in Midgar? If you go back to that church after Disc one, there's a chance of spotting a very brief manifestation of Aeris in two different areas. One just kind of hangs out in the aisles, the other is leaning over the flowers.

Also, someone with the PC version and the debug code found a specific "event" coded in--listed as "After Aeris's Death", it takes you specifically to the flower-tending Aeris ghost. ...So it's not just a glitch, it was deliberately coded in, for no apparent reason.

Also, this conversation from the bridge of the Highwind, in-game:

Tifa: I wonder what Aeris felt... when she was on that Altar...
Cloud: I'm sure she wanted to give her life for the planet...
Tifa: Really? I wonder? I don't think that's it at all.
I think she didn't think she would die at all, but that she planned on
coming back all along. She always used to talk about the "Next Time".
She talked about the future more than any of us.

Seems sorta odd of Square to throw that in there if they were just being dicks. Again, probably alluding to shit that didn't make it to the final copy.

Would kill for a sequel to this. A real one. Not a movie.

A lot of people want a remake, but I don't think it really needs one. If anything, I'd like to see a current gen remake of the first FF, with a more in depth story. Prolly not a popular opinion, but I think it would be swell.

OssMan
06-11-2009, 02:27 AM
Dirge of Cerberus? Yeah it was definitely different than FF7 but gave you a lot of background on Vincent storyline. I'd love "next gen" a remake of any FF between 1-7, maybe even 9.

Seriously Final Fantasy 7 had it all. At the time, the CGI graphics were stunning, the gameplay was excellent, and the storyline was one of the best of all time. Thinking back on it, at the time, I want Sephiroth to die. Now that I think about it, I wanted that fucker to succeed

HEY ABT, are you going to tell us that you liked FF X-2 next?

In all seriousness, I'm so pissed off that they brought back something awesome like being able to switch classes on the fly...and then mucked it up with a shitty clothing change gimmick , a terrible half-baked plot and massive amounts of estrogen.

A SHAME.

Looking at some of the FAQs, it would appear there's quite a bit that indicated she wasn't supposed to stay dead, or there was to at least be an option.

Wonder what the deal is.

Definitely remember my friend pointing out the U to me in this situation. He however had Final Fantasy VII on PC so there might be a difference there. I don't see why they would change it, because all those grammatical errors are still there, like "this guy are sick."

A few things:

The part when you get all the way to the bottom of the northern cave, when you're actually inside the planet and jumping on those stones with all the green stuff shooting everywhere actually runs at full speed on the PS3. I guess the hardware couldn't support it on the other systems cause it always ran really slow.

The part where you have to stop the train from running into Corel didn't work at all. I don't remember what I did when I did it a bunch of years ago but I'm pretty sure it involved pressing buttons but this time no matter what I pressed absolutely nothing happened so I just had to stare at Cid standing on the train for two minutes.
