Isn't having your mask taken off the worst thing ever for a Luchador? Will he stay unmasked or come back with another.

He'll come back with another one,or get released.:shifty:
I think it's actually worse putting it back on from a kayfabe standpoint.
I'm guessing by the way he ran off covering his face and them putting over the fact he was more concerned with being unmasked than being pinned, he'll show up in another

If he stays unmasked, the name "Mysterio" wouldn't seem right.

It would be a very dumb move by WWE financially for him to drop the mask

Yeah I think they take that very seriously in Mexico.
He's gotta put it back on. WWE make too much money from those masks to drop it
I LOL'd when I saw 99% of Rey's face on the closeup at one point (before the complete unmasking).

Neither, he's gonna come back with an unmasked semi rap gimmick with several no name rappers and a few random big wrestlers who dont do anything but stand in the background and look menacing.

I thought losing the mask was the worst thing that happened to him in WCW and thats why he hated it.

I called this in the smackdown spoilers thread last week. So this is his second time, is he gonna throw on an army uniform and do his WCW gimmick again?

Actually, WWE could still make money off the masks. Rey can WRESTLE without the mask, but enter out with one on. WWE still makes money this way....
And yes, you are welcome for this idea WWE, cuz I know you'll prolly steal it, if you didn't already have it in mind.

It will look really creepy if he does the whole "hold a child's face up to your face" thing without a mask.

As long as Jericho makes a necklace out of it like he did with Juvi's mask I don't care what they do.
He should wrestle in Devil's horns.

This is actually kind of funny, because the last time he lost his mask, back in 1998, was actually to Jericho if I'm not mistaken. I do know they had a rivalry like this one that's going on now. I can't remember if he took Juventud's or Mysterio's or perhaps both of them. Funny to think that was 11 years ago; I wonder if they are rehashing this on purpose.

At SuperBrawl IX, Mysterio lost a "Hair vs. Mask match" against Kevin Nash, forcing Mysterio to remove his mask.
I don't care. I'm not into midget wrestling.

Maybe this time he won't look like a 12 year old in the ring like he did in WCW?

But anyway, he should put the mask back on because the WWE does make a ton of money off those things, and it would be wierd to see him without it.

I wonder if he'll keep the white contacts without the mask. He'll look like the lovechild of Hornswaggle and Viscera.

I can see the WWE having him come out with a new design or something, but I can actually see a benefit from him losing the mask. It freshens up Rey, and it creates a more "human" connection with crowds. I mean, Rey has been on fire in the ring recently, but he hasn't gotten too much attention for it because he is the same old Rey Mysterio. Granted, I know Rey has wrestled without a mask before, but never in the WWE.
Wrestling maskless would be like a "Whoa! Rey doesn't have a mask!" moment for fans, and could add some intensity to him. They could change his ring attire to feature the mask design, so that they can still market the masks to kids and stuff. As someone suggested, he could also come out in the mask prior to his big matches.
Maybe the WWE is also doing an experiment to see if Rey Mysterio is the draw to the kiddies and Hispanics, or if the mask is the draw? Either way, I am far more interested in the Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio feud than I was before. They just need to get the IC Title out of it, because both Jericho and Rey are above the belt. Yes, I want it to be prestigious, too, but they've already both given it a rub by holding it (again, in Jericho's case).

Why would he show up without a mask? It's not like it's the only mask he has. He didn't lose it, it just got taken off by Jericho. He'd have to lose it in a Mask vs Mask/Hair/Title match. (Hmm, Rey's Mask v Jericho's Title....Summerslam anyone?)

Pride? I can fully see Jericho calling out Rey for because he's a coward, and he had his mask removed, and he won't have the courage to show up without it. Rey can then make his return against Jericho at The Bash -- maskless, which answers Jericho's challenge.
Then, taking your idea, Mysterio can go back to the mask because he never lost the right to wear it in a match stipulation? It'd just add novelty to a Jericho vs. Mysterio match.

I really don't think they're setting Mysterio up for losing his mask. It'll end in a Mask v Title match I'm sure, which is why Jericho picked up the belt early in the feud. And I'm willing to bet Mysterio goes over in that match.

Yea, but isn't the opposite true? Mysterio's pride isn't based on being called a coward, it's about wearing the mask in the lucha tradition. Jericho is basing all of his promos about Mysterio being a hypocrite, etc for wearing the mask and whoring out to the fans. Mysterio is wearing the mask as a symbol of lucha tradition and as a symbol of connection with his fans. The whole point of the feud is Jericho's quest to unmask Mysterio and have him exposed as a hyporctie, etc v Mysterio standing up for his tradition and fans. Mysterio willingly taking the mask off, kills all of this heat.

That is true, but I'm just thinking about the lucha tradition of not losing your mask. I'm not sure if it does need to be a stipulation. I'm honestly not versed with what is acceptable to them (although Rey has apparently violated it, anyway).

There's a shoot interview with Rey somewhere on YouTube where he talks about losing his mask to Nash in WCW and how it was the worst moment of his career. IIRC, Bischoff or someone basically called him and said "either you lose the mask or you're fired" despite him expressing how uncomfortable it made him.
I don't think Rey will lose the mask again, even though this is the second major feud he's had in the past year where they teased it. It was mentioned before, but the masks make the company too much money...if Vince is blasting people for wanting to take the risk of turning Cena heel, I don't imagine he'd be comfortable with Rey losing the mask unless it was like in a feud with Triple H or something (which, ironically, would pretty much be a repeat of the WCW fiasco).
Not to mention he'd look hideous with a mask these days, with his head all swollen from the steroids/HGH. ;)
