Bull Buchanan, missed opportunity or just another generic big man wrestler?

I'm not sure how it came to the Bull but, I was watching some vids of William Regal durring the commissioner days and I came across some stuff with Bull Buchanan. He was a pretty big guy with some agility too. The vid says that he was 6ft 8 almost 300 lbs and he was still able to leap to the top turnbuckle in one shot and he had one heck of an Ax kick. I think he was just one of those guys that was always around but never really did anything to stand out. He started out with the Truth Commission back in 1997 and was around untill 2003 when he was attacked by Cena. So lookin back at his time with the Truth Commission, teaming with the Bossman, RTC, and the B2 days, was he a missed opportunity or just another generic big man?

Tough question.
I am leaning more towards generic big guy. I remember liking the way he wrestled. I specially liked his turnbuckle moves. I guess the guy just did not have much charisma with the mic, the same fate Blackman seemed to have suffered. He was not the best, but he was entertaining to watch at least.

Then again, it's hard to say he was generic because he went through so many goddamn gimmicks. Too bad the gimmick of mic skills wasn't one of them.

I liked him. I remember him being on the floor next to the turnbuckle and just reaching up and kinda backwards rolling onto the top rope before hitting a big move.

The way they treated Bull Buchanan is the exact way to make fans not care about a wrestler. From the Truth Commission, to Bossman's sidekick, to FCC member, to Cena hype man....none of the transitions made any sense at all. Sure, you can take a wrestler out of a gimmick and move him into something else, but it all requires a logical transition. He didn't have that luxury, and eventually he became a joke in people's eyes.

He really wasn't a bad talent, though. No more so than some other people that were around when he was.

Showed little to no promise as Recon of The Truth Commission, but he seemed to have a lot of potential when he was repackagaed as Bull Buchanan. Impressive agility. But it went downhill as soon as he turned solo and flopped, and joined RTC.

I rated him back in the day. A man of his size with his agility shouldn't find it hard to get over. One of the major problems with him is that he was never booked as a true singles competitor.

Started as a stable member, became a sidekick, went solo but kept the same gimmick (iirc), reverted back to a stable member and then on to being a sidekick again. They never really set him up to be a success.
