Wow!! I can't believe Hollywood made a movie about 2012. I didn't think the whole 2012 calendar thing would become that mainstream.

Director of "Independence Day" and "The Day After Tomorrow".... seems like this guy likes doing films with big budget effects about the mass destruction of the human race.

I will probably give it a watch as a popcorn flick.

Gotta say though I think the idea of one largish disaster setting off worldwide Hysteria and how people react to the thought of (but not actualy) the end of the world would be much cooler.

So kind of like 1 disaster setting of a chain of man made events to end the world if that makes sense.

Am I the only person tired of end of the world movies?

Roland Emmerich is just as bad as Michael Bay. All his movies are about buildings blowing up and the destruction of civilization.

Jeritron

Tbh, I think he's worse. Michael Bay's made some stinkers, but I at least enjoyed Transformers and The Rock.

Although, I did enjoy Independence Day. Other than that it's all a low rent version of that. More and more destruction stories, and less and less interest from my end. This one looks abyssmal.

The effects on this are wild, I will want to see this on a big screen.

None of us can say for sure but the world will probably not end in 2012, let alone on the winter solstice. But I will be prepared if it does happen.

1. Shit, as fucked up as our calendar is, compared to the mayans, we could actually be living in 2012 NOW.

2. I can so see 2012 being as big of a pile of bullshit as Y2K was.

This makes no sense, because there is nothing people can do to beat Nature. If it's time for our species to end, then it's time. It's natural.

Not about beating nature, though. It's the drama of trying to survive.

Drama can be anything, whether it's good or bad drama is something else. So yeah, this movie is focusing on the dramatic aspect of survival. What's funny about this? I'm not saying it's Hamlet.

lol what the fuck are you talking about

I'm implying that the Julian Calendar is fucked up to the degree that '2012' is a pointless number. And I'm also implying that the end of the world theory is just as much overhyped bullshit as Y2K was. They said at the new year, the world was gonna be fucked up due to a programming error.

In essence, I'm saying the premise for the movie is flawed.

Vastardikai with the breaking news that the world won't actually end in 2012.

That and I'm tired of Disaster Movies.

I want some Over-the-Top Ultra-Violent Movies that are so god damned bad that they go all the way over the line back to being awesome.
