I know there's an official thread for wrestling sims but I thought this might be worthwhile news for people who would want to play book wrestling promotions on a free game which there hasn't been since Extreme Warfare Revenge. This is a game that would have cost you $25 previously and with it due to be free there will be a massive amount of real world mods out.

The last one I 'bought' was 2004 and although I did play the demo of 2005, I didn't purchase it. Might take a look at it seeing as it's free.
Extreme Warfare Revenge still has a large following due to it being free, so this might take off in a big way.

I wasted such a huge amount of time playing EWR.
I would now like to do so again.

I have the latest TEW and I rarely play it...it's fun don't get me wrong, but it takes a hell of alot longer to play than EWR.
I've been playing the WMMA game they brought out non stop though...infact just bought WMMA 2 today, just downloading a mod for it now...tis great

That's really my biggest issue. I really liked EWR but TEW made it have FAR too much involvement. Really turned me off to be honest.

Yeah I know what you guys mean. I still play EWR from time to time and I think it's a great game but wish it had a bit more depth, then I'll play TEW and think there is too much depth.

It's out. Does anyone know if people continued making current real world patches for this game even when newer ones were out?

There will be loads because it is freeware. There were existing ones to begin with but there will be massive support for this, like there is for EWR.

Downloaded the 2006 scenario for now...one show in and I've already remembered why I never got far in the game. :o The crowd doesn't go home happy unless the show is mostly storylines/interviews.

Started a game last night. Playing as some shitty british pure company. Gonna be bankrupt pretty quickly, but fuck 'em.
Enjoying it though.

How are you making them go bankrupt? Signing expensive wrestlers?
Evil Vito

Oh yeah, and apparently in TEW 05 you can only do 2 brands...hence why so many scenarios split Raw, SD, and ECW into three separate companies.
When an 09 scenario comes out I'll probably just "draft" the members of the ECW roster into Raw and SD and treat ECW and Superstars as sister shows, sorta like Heat and Velocity back in the day.

Yeah, this is really complicated. Gonna stick with EWR

Gay, if you have a bad opening segment it tanks the crowd for the rest of the night...and that includes pre-show segments. So basically if you wanna test out guys from developmental like they do in the real WWE, you are fucked cause the crowd isn't going to care and will become restless all night. :|

I had a really good first show score but the crowd wanted more angles. :(
I really want to use real world wrestlers, can some one give me a step by step of how to apply these patches and shit?

Well first you have to go into the game (start menu) and create a new database. So at the moment you should have 'Default'. When you create a new database, give it a title that will let you remember it easily. I downloaded a 2001 mod so I named my database '2001'. Find the mod that you want and then download it, I saved it in the 2001 folder of TEW 2005 in Program files. I think the file path was something like C://program files/GDS/TEW 2005/2001. You should now have a zip file there. Then all you need to do is overwrite the existing files with the new files in the zip. From there all you need to go back into the game and there is an option to switch databases (select your new database, i.e '2001'). If your game now has 'real' wrestlers, you know it has worked.

Good point...I didn't even create a separate database...so the original data is lost for me unless I re-download. The "Default" database for me now is a 2006 WWE game.
Gotta keep that in mind in case I choose to run more than one game from different time periods.

I can't get in to the original data. Bit of a shame because it plays better than a lot of the mods but there's just too much to try and get up to speed with. I like to go into it with prior knowledge of who's good at this and that.

Is it an old version, like 2006 data or something?

Yeah it seems like it was back after CM Punk left ROH but before TNA dropped NWA. I don't know exactly what time period that was, but The Pure title was still around
