View Full Version : How long have you been watching wrestling?
I think we have enough new blood to do this one again. At least, I assume it's been done already.
13 years for me.
It'll be 20 years in November (2010)
So i guess that would make it 19, for now.

I still remember my dad and his buddies at my house watching WM 4. That was my first time watching it.

Been following wrestling since (if I rememer correctly) around summer of 1991. Before that I used to watch old tapes (Summerslam 1990 was the first PPV show I ever watched) and bought my first tape (British Bulldogs) around that time.
I don't remember the first show I watched (pretty sure it was a Nitro though) but my first obsession was with the Hogan/Piper feud. Loved me some Piper back then, even though I was a Hulkamaniac for a while (from watching old tapes).

25+ years, from my dads knee when I was an infant/toddler and on. the longest time I've went without was when I was deployed to Iraq.
I heart wrestling.

I can only remember two time periods where I got really into wrestling.
I remember when I was in grade 1 I used to go to the video store down the road and rent WWF tapes. I watched quite a few WWF and WCW PPVs over the years. I remember being pissed when someone taped over WCW Fall Brawl with shitty soft core porn (don't remember which year). There was a year or two where I didn't watch wrestling as much, but I got hardcore back into wrestling in mid 97 when things started to get interesting again.

Been familiar with it all my life, didn't really start watching closely until that one Summerslam where Paul Bearer turned on The Undertaker. So, I suppose 13 years for me as well.

On and off since 1993 to 1997, then pretty solid since 1998. Started really embracing the wrestling world outside the WWE since 2002 which was rather unfortunately after the fall of ECW.

Been about 11 years. First time watching wrestling was the Austin/Mike Tyson segment on RAW 1998. I even remember asking "who is this guy trying to pick a fight with Mike Tyson?"
Since I was like 5 so about 19 years

I’ve watched WWE since 1996 when I was 7. The first match I saw was with Goldust, Psycho Sid, Savio Vega, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Since '93, so 16 years.
My first memory was the 1-2-3 Kid/Razor Ramon match. My dad said "he's fighting the kid" and at that moment they were filming a kid in the audience. Being only 4/5 at the time I thought he meant Razor Ramon was fighting a little kiddie lol.

My first live wrestling event was actually Wrestlemania VI in Toronto, Ontario. I'll never forget the atmosphere in the arena when Warrior beat Hogan for the title; everyone was on their feet. To this day it's probably one of the best memories of my life.
early 90's for me. i remember taking my moms make up to paint my face like sting doing bodyslams to my teddy bear..lol...god its been a while

I watched WWE wrestling RELIGIOUSLY from January 1998 to Spring 2005.
Before and after that time period however - I've only tuned in at certain times (and so my "guesstimate" of how long I've watched wrestling, would be the equivalent of about 11 years).

On and off since 92, I remember watching Summerslam 92 and used to watch it whenever I was at a mates place who had Sky (I remember seeing the early days of Adam Bomb and Issac Yankem for example) I started watching regularly again around Wrestlemania XII, used to watch an hour of Nitro before Raw and saw pretty much every PPV between Bad Blood and Wrestlemania 19, interest kind of died away after that and now I probably watch Raw once every couple of weeks, never see Smackdown or ECW and only watch free PPV's, Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania.

10 years in August, damn its been a long time. The first match I saw actually was a bar room brawl between the APA and the Dudley's on smackdown, pretty awesome.

I really can't overemphasize how great it was seeing Wrestlemania VI live from Toronto, Ontario as a kid. The glitz, the glamor, that was Wrestlemania. You had two titans at the peak of their popularity colliding for the first time. Something had to give. The place was electric.

Since '88, but haven't been watching new broadcasts since '05. Even though I don't watch "new" WWE entertainment, I still watch good old WWF Wrasslin' on youtube every once in a while, I was watching some clips of Demolition last night. :y:

Sometime around WM 5 I started, and watched solidly (which then was Saturday mornings and videos I could get ahold of) til early 93. Then picked it up again in late 97 and watched religiously till WCW died, then picked it back up again right around this year's Royal Rumble.

1990 for me. Continuously.
I watched the WWF when I could back in 98 and 99, but then didn't see much of it (or even any of it) at least until mid 2003 when I got cable TV (they stopped showing the WWF on free-to-air in Aus after 99).
Which probably explains how I'm such a gigantic Austin and Taker mark, while I was never the biggest Rock fan (since I missed him and H in their absolute primes from 99 onwards). And unlike a lot of Aussies, I've never seen an episode of Nitro.

Off and on from age 7 to 10, then fairly steady from that point on. First feud I remember really getting drawn into was Lawler/Kaufman.
Voted 21-25 before I went back and did the math. Turns out I should have went 25+.

I guess around 25 years. Watched the AWA and WWF when I was a kid, but after a while they went to cable and I didn't watch for probably 5-7 years, but I eventually found it and started back watching again.

Right around 19 years. Obviously watched tons of tapes from shows older than I am, but in terms of when I started it was 19 years ago.

My dad always used to watch it, so from when I was about 2. So 21 years.
I've carried on the tradition and my son started watching it at 2. Now he's 4 and loves it.
My work is done.
